In a tournament like this, there’s nothing wrong with having two bets on the winner’s market and the second one is England.
They’ll have been massively disappointed by losing to Croatia at the 2018 World Cup in what was by far their best shot at winning a tournament since the 1966 World Cup.
But they’ve been very impressive since, which of course is why they’re ranked Number 2 on UEFA’s charts, behind only Spain.
Manager Gareth Southgate has now been in the job for a while and is good both tactically, and in terms of man management.
A few eyebrows were raised when Southgate released his squad list, which contained a load of defenders and arguably not enough midfielders. But it’s a good bunch of players nonetheless.
In Harry Kane they have the 6.5 favourite to win the Golden Boot for Top Goalscorer, while Declan Rice and Phil Foden are among the leading candidates for the Young Player of the Tournament Award.
In attack the likes of Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho are coming off fine seasons, as is Mason Mount and Jordan Henderson in midfield and the likes of Harry Maguire and Kyle Walker in defence.
Unlike Portugal, they have the advantage of being in a pretty easy group with the Czech Republic, Croatia and Scotland for company.
