France vs Germany Euro 2020 Betting Tips, Predictions, Team News, H2H Stats.

France Recent Form

France can boast what is probably the best squad in the tournament in terms of quality and depth.

They basically have two high-class players in every last position and plenty of options off the bench, should they need to freshen things up during the game.

However, there was a little bit of a rift in the camp over the last week or so when veteran striker Olivier Giroud complained to the media about his teammates at the end of their 3-0 win over Bulgaria last week.

The gist of it is that he wasn’t provided with the service he wanted, an odd thing to say given he had just scored twice after coming on as a sub.

One man who wasn’t best impressed was Kylian Mbappe, France’s star striker, who felt the comments by Giroud shouldn’t have gone public.

It’s all rather unnecessary but France will field an incredibly strong XI. And one where Giroud is unlikely to feature anyway.

Likely XI: Lloris, Pavard, Varane, Kimpembe, Hernandez, Kante, Pogba, Rabiot; Griezmann, Mbappe, Benzema

Germany Recent Form

This isn’t necessarily a Germany side filled with star names like it has been in the past.

But it’s a Germany side with a good blend of youth and experience with a few players coming off particularly good seasons, such as Ikay Gundogan of Manchester City and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.

It’s worth remembering that in an interesting change of mind, coach Joachim Low decided to recall Matts Hummels and Thomas Muller after a two-year absence.

Both are expected to start here and it will be interesting to see if that decision is vindicated or proves to be a mistake.

Likely XI: Neuer, Ginter, Hummels, Rudiger, Kimmich, Kroos, Gundogan, Gosens, Havertz, Muller, Gnabry

France vs Germany Head-to-Head

Unsurprisingly given these are two of the world’s top teams, they’ve played each other plenty of times ever since their first encounter back in 1931.

It’s 31 in total and it’s France who are ahead, having won 14 times to Germany’s 10; there have been seven draws over the years.

And it’s been all France over the last few years. They haven’t lost to Germany in any of their last five, winning three of those.

That included a solid 2-0 win in the semis of Euro 2016, though as we know, France went on to lose the final. The last game between them ended in a 2-1 win for France in the Nations League.

France vs Germany Match Facts

  • Antoine Griezmann scored both of France’s goals when they last played Germany, winning 2-1.
  • When Germany beat Latvia 7-1 last week, there were seven different goalscorers, including a Latvia own goal.
  • France won their last two matches 3-0. Giroud and Griezmann each scored two of those six goals.

France vs Germany Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back France to win @ 2.7 with PureWin

These two will probably both get out of the Group Stages and you wouldn’t want to be discounting either of them from going very deep indeed in this tournament.

But right here, right now, your money should be on France. True that Germany have a home advantage but France look to have the better starting XI and have had the upper hand in this fixture over the past few years, not losing any of the last five.

With France also being in considerably better form across friendlies, Nations League games and qualifiers over the past two years, they simply have to get the vote.

Kylian Mbappe to be Anytime Goalscorer

Recommended Bet: Mbappe to be anytime goalscorer @ 3.30 with Betway

This is a somewhat obvious election but should Kylian Mbappe be available at odds of 3.3 to score a goal in the game?

This is France’s main striker, who might take penalties and is the focus of their attack.

He’s among the favourites for Player of the Tournament and Top Goalscorer and is fresh from a season where he scored  41 goals in 57 games for club and country. So you can see why we’re keen on France’s main man.

Both Teams to Score

Recommended Bet: Back Both Teams to Score in the Match @ 1.80 with 10CRIC

France may just edge this one but Germany should be good for a goal.

They managed to score in 11 of their last 12, the exception being that extremely bizarre 6-0 loss to Spain in November 2020 that doesn’t really have an explanation for why it was that bad performance by the Germans.

The 2014 World Champions may not have a prolific out and out striker but the likes of Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry, Timo Werner and Gundogan are all more than capable of coming up with a goal.

Given we have few doubts that France will get one and both teams to score looks like a decent bet.
