Let’s move on to our expert cricket prediction ahead of today’s World Cup match.
Bangladesh are strong favourites to top their group and make it to the Super 12, followed by Scotland. So it is fair to say that this fixture is the toughest match the two sides will play this early in the competition.
Between the two, the Bengal tigers make for the far obvious choice and that’s who I’m going to back in my Bangladesh vs Scotland predictions and betting tips. You can also check out today’s World Cup odds right here.
Mohammad Naim, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed
Scotland’s Likely XI
George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer, Matthew Cross, Richie Berrington, Calum McLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Alasdair Evans, Brad Wheal, Craig Wallace
Venue & conditions
The Al Amerat Ground in Oman has been used for international T20 cricket since 2019, though not a single Test nation has played a match there.
In February 2020 the UAE got to a monster total of 199-5 against Kuwait here. Other cricketing nations like Bahrain, Maldives, and Qatar have also played here and more often than not in the past, the pitch has proven favourable for batting.
A first-inning total upwards of 160 is certainly on the cards. As for the weather, we can expect clear skies. Check out our Oman Cricket Academy Ground betting guide for more on this venue!
Bangladesh vs Scotland Toss Prediction
The two sides have met just once in T20 cricket when Bangladesh toured the Netherlands and Ireland for a series in 2012. Bangladesh lost the toss and match by 34 runs, failing to reach the target of 163 runs.
In my Bangladesh vs Scotland toss winner prediction, I’m going to back Bangladesh to finally get the better of the Scots here.
The reasons why I’m backing Bangladesh here in today’s betting prediction between Bangladesh vs Scotland are as follows:
They have a stronger bowling attack with Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan boasting 170+ wickets between them in T20 cricket
The Tigers have played more quality T20I cricket in 2021 than Scotland
Bangladesh are coming in the tournament after T20 series wins over Australia and New Zealand
Their players are much better suited to the conditions
All in all, Bangladesh have the upper hand here. They are the more experienced side between the two and look confident to get their T20 World Cup campaign underway on a winning note.
That said, they did lose their final warm-up game to Ireland by 33 runs but not much is to be read from it. Scotland may look at that as a precedent to do something similar, but the odds are not in their favour (literally).
