Jamshedpur FC ISL Preview & Betting Tips

Jamshedpur FC Betting

Jamshedpur FC joined the ISL back in 2017 and since then, have built a solid fan base. While they are yet to finish in the top four, the club has shown signs of promise that better things are on the way. In their defence, the club has got the right ingredients – it is only in the crucial moments that they falter and end up slipping in the table.

For the Indian Super League 2021-22, the Red Miners have made a few strategic signings that make them a well-balanced, complete unit. Be it in the defence, midfield, or attack – the team looks composed on all fronts to finally go the distance this season.

Let’s take a look at their chances in the ISL 2021-22 from the ISL betting perspective.

Jamshedpur FC best odds

The Red Miners give the impression of being one of those average teams that always manage to put up a good show but never quite truly excel and reach the heights they are intended for.

Even though they are fielding a pretty capable roster, their inability to keep up the consistency and positive results end up costing them the tournament. Last season, they finished sixth – missing out on the playoffs berth by just four points. That alone should tell you that Jamshedpur FC are a rather brilliant team who, with a little bit of inspiration, can conquer any challenges that come their way.

Betting on them early on can lead to lucrative rewards but it is just as important to track their performance so you can make accurate bets throughout.

Jamshedpur FC Predictions

To help you make the most of football betting, we are going to preview every single match that Jamshedpur FC play in the ISL 2021-22. As the tournament picks up, our predictions will entail the past performance analysis so you can make the most by betting on this side.

As for their prospects in the upcoming season, they admittedly look considerably better (at least on paper) than they did last year. The reinforcements brought in for key positions should serve them, especially when the season really picks up and things start to get intense.

JFC Team Outlook

Owen Coyle will once again manage the side this season after a fairly decent run last season. The Scotsman is well-versed with the nuances of the Indian Super League already, having coached Chennaiyin FC in his first term here and successfully guiding them to a runner-up finish.

Peter Hartley will retain his place in defence and so will the likes of Laldinliana Renthlei, Boris Singh, and Ricky Lallawmawma. In the midfield, the new additions of Greg Stewart and Eli Sabia will only strengthen their attacking prospects. Sabia is coming off a three-season stint with Chennaiyin FC while Stewart spent the last couple of seasons at the Scottish club Rangers FC. Seasoned midfielders like Alex Lima and Pronay Halder (on loan from ATK Mohun Bagan) will allow for easy rotation and flexibility in the team.

In attack, Coyle will retain his faith in Nerijus Valskis and the newcomer Jordan Murray – who scored eight goals for Kerala Blasters last season in 19 appearances. To help them out, Ishan Pandita and Farukh Choudhary have also been brought.

All in all, the team is looking as balanced as it can. If things go according to the plan, they can definitely reach the top but in reality, anything can happen.

Our Prediction for the Season: Mid-table finish (4th – 7th) in the league

Jamshedpur FC Performance 2020-21

The Red Miners delivered another consistent season in terms of a mid-table finish. They finished sixth in the table with seven wins and as many losses, in addition to six draws.

Defensively, they were fairly decent having conceded 22 goals – the least in the bottom-six teams. On the goals side of the business, things could have gone better for them. Jamshedpur FC scored just 21 goals – with Valskis and Stephen Eze sharing 12 of them. So the fact that they have brought on new attacking players should help them reduce their reliance on individual players.

Over the course of their season, they racked up wins over ATK Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC, NorthEast United, and even Mumbai City FC.

The fact that they were held to far too many draws (against Kerala Blasters, SC East Bengal, and Hyderabad FC) proved to be their downfall – or in this case, their prime reason for not reaching the semifinals.

Captain: Peter Hartley

The 33-year-old Englishman Peter Hartley was tasked with the captaincy for Jamshedpur FC at the start of the 2020 season and so far, he has done a great job. He has spent the core of his career in English football, primarily with League One and League Two teams.

As the defender, he has plied his trade for several clubs like Hartlepool United, Plymouth Argyle, and Bristol Rovers.

He made 19 appearances for the Red Miners last season and more importantly, fits in quite nicely with the English style of play that Coyle prefers. Seeing that Hartley will be working with several familiar faces this season too, the responsibility of leading the side on the pitch should be considerably less difficult than last season.

Key Players

The presence of Nerijus Valskis is a big boost for the team. He brought in eight goals last season and the onus will be on him once again to lead the way on the attacking front. To ease things for him, Greg Steward and seasoned ISL striker Jordan Murray are also likely to join him in the playing XI.

The team’s defence was quite good last season – largely in part due to the likes of Laldinpuia, Hartley, Narender Gahlot, and Laldinliana Renthlei. The fact that Jamshedpur FC have retained this core defensive unit (and brought in additional reinforcements in Eli Sabia and others) is just great news all around.

Their midfield is also looking well-balanced with Boris Singh, Alexandre Lima, and Pronay Haldar.

Jamshedpur FC 2021-22 analysis

Their pre-season friendlies may not have gone according to the plan, but Jamshedpur FC are certainly fielding one of the most balanced teams in the Indian Super League. There is plenty of depth in all three departments, giving Owen Coyle plenty of freedom to rotate the squad.

There is a healthy mix of experience and fresh blood, which should certainly propel the Red Miners to another mid-season finish at the very least. The rest – we will have to wait and watch.

A tick to represent the strengths of Jamshedpur FC in the ISL 2021-22.

Strengths

  • Valskis will be a key player for the side. His presence alone brings in a huge boost – psychologically as well as on the pitch
  • The side has gone to great lengths to solidify their defence further
  • There is plenty of depth in all key departments and viable backup options available

An X to represent the weaknesses of Jamshedpur FC in the ISL 2021-22

Weaknesses

  • There are many new names in the team and it may take some time for the side to find its bearings
  • Despite fielding a talented midfield line-up, the side still lacks a creative playmaker
