Jaffna Kings take on Galle Gladiators in this 2021 LPL qualifier. The two teams will play in Hambantota at 7:30 pm on 19th December.
Which team will go forward to the final? Which team will have to play another qualifier? You’re in the best place to find out and bet on cricket online. Coming up next, my Jaffna vs Gladiators betting tips.
My free cricket betting tips include a couple of Jaffna vs Galle predictions. In today’s match-winner market, I think Jaffna Kings will overcome the Gladiators.
Champions Jaffna played Galle on Friday – and lost. But it was their first defeat in seven games, and they were resting some of their best players. I expect the Kings to be back at full strength for this qualifier match.
Captain Thisara Perera still looks like the most destructive batsman in the tournament. With the ball, I think mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana has been one of the best bowlers of LPL 2021. He has been supported well by Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva.
Jaffna Kings’s Likely XI
Upul Tharanga, Avishka Fernando, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Ashen Bandara, Thisara Perera, Shoaib Malik, Chaturanga de Silva, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, Maheesh Theekshana, Usman Shinwari, Jayden Seales
Galle Gladiators News
Galle made the final of the 2020 LPL but they have been up and down this year. Veteran all-rounder Samit Patel has never been picked in the Indian Premier League. But he continues to star in Sri Lanka. He took 15 wickets in eight group games – more than any other bowler in the tournament.
Galle have issues with their batting lineup. They’ve hit fewer sixes than any other team. Last year, Danushka Gunathilaka was the tournament’s leading run-scorer. This year, he has made only 117 runs from eight innings – 16 other batsmen have scored more than him. If Galle are to succeed against Jaffna, they will need Gunathilaka and others to find some better form.
Galle Gladiators’s Likely XI
Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Mohammad Hafeez, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Samit Patel, Sahan Arachchige, Isuru Udana, Pulina Tharanga, Mohammad Amir, Noor Ahmad
Venue & conditions
For the knockout stages, the LPL moves from Colombo to Hambantota. In Colombo, the team batting first won 7/11 night matches like this one.
The weather forecast for this game is cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Bowlers, especially spinners, can struggle if the ball gets too wet.
Jaffna Kings vs Galle Gladiators Toss Prediction
Jaffna won 4/8 tosses in the group stage of LPL 2021. Galle won 3/8 but that includes the toss in Friday’s game between these two. For the Jaffna vs Galle toss winner, I am picking Galle to make it two in a row against Jaffna.
Jaffna Kings vs Galle Gladiators Winner Prediction
Galle are the only team to have beaten Jaffna in the competition so far. They’ve won twice against the Kings, but I am not sure the Gladiators can complete a hat-trick.
In Friday’s game, the Kings rested key players like Maheesh Theekshana, who will return refreshed for this match. Last year, Jaffna won 3/3 against Galle, including a knockout match. This year, the Kings have won 6/8 and look like the best team in the competition. My win prediction can only be for Jaffna to go forward to the final again.
