It’s a battle of the newcomers in the IPL this Monday, and I have been looking at the online cricket satar bazar to find the best Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants betting tips.

Both sides have made some statement signings ahead of their debut seasons, but it’s been a tough task to pick a winner between the two for my IPL betting predictions given the lack of any previous statistics to go off.

Check my full game preview below to find out who I think has the edge, my hot bet, and other need-to-know facts and figures. The action starts from 8.30 pm (IST) on Monday 28th March at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

LSG vs GT Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back Lucknow Super Giants to win @ 1.94 with Pure Win

With no previous records from both sides, it leaves me to make this match prediction on the talent alone.

It’s a tight call – the Titans have picked up some excellent players, not least the likes of opener Shubman Gill and one of the format’s most brilliant exponents in Rashid Khan.

However, I am giving it to the Super Giants on the acquisition of three key players – KL Rahul, KH Pandya, and Avesh Khan.

The former, who the Super Giants have made the joint-highest player in the IPL’s history, is a particularly crucial addition. He has been a top three IPL run scorer in each of the last four seasons – topping the ranks in 2019 and 2020. He’s worth the money they pay for him.

KH Pandya will bring control and some useful lower-order hitting, while Avesh Khan claimed 24 wickets last season for the Capitals. They form a formidable spine for the Super Giants, and that is why I’m picking them for my match winner bet.

Today’s GT vs LSG Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: KL Rahul to be top Lucknow Super Giants batter @3.5 with 10CRIC

In terms of hot bets, this one is a scorcher!

One could make the argument that KL Rahul is the greatest batsman in the IPL era, such is his sheer levels of consistency in run-getting, stroke-making, and match-winning knocks.

His move to the Super Giants is interesting – Rahul maintains the decision was born out of a desire to test himself in new surroundings, after four years with the Punjab Kings.

He takes up captaincy for his new side, and there is a feeling too much change could hamper his blockbuster form of the last four seasons.

That’s for the future, however! I like the look of Rahul to bag a few runs on debut – I will be backing him at 3.5 with 10CRIC, a leading online cricket betting site in India. They have a great range of markets available – both pre-match and in-play. Read our full review of 10CRIC here!

GT Recent Form

There is no recent Gujarat Titans form to go off – instead I will look at some of the individual form of the best players in the Titans’ team.

Rashid Khan had a disappointing Big Bash League by his high standards – taking just 10 wickets in 10 games. He was typically economical in the recent Twenty20 series against Bangladesh, taking 1/30 and 1/15.

Afghanistan keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a memorable century against Bangladesh on 28th February – smashing 106 not out to lead his team to a priceless victory.

Elsewhere, Shubman Gill has had a few months off to prepare for the IPL after missing India’s tour of South squad over the New Year.

Team News

Jason Roy pulled out of the IPL pre-tournament to spend some more time with his family – his place is being filled by Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Azarri Joseph is completing his international stint with the West Indies in their test match versus England and will also miss out.

Player to Watch: Mohammed Shami

The Indian quickie continues to be a reliable performer for his country nearly 10 years on since making his debut, though it’s mainly in the test arena these days.

The leading wicket-taker for the Punjab Kings last season, Shami claimed 19 wickets at an average of 20.78 per wicket with a tight economy rate of 7.50 per over. The Kings’ loss is the Titans’ gain – I can see him causing a few issues under the lights, with more dew around.

He could be worth a dabble at odds of 4.33 to be the top bowler for the Gujarat Titans with Betway – bet here!

GT’s Likely XI

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Abhinav Manohar, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Sai Kishore, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami

LSG’s Recent Form

Once more we are in the dark when it comes to analysing the form of the team – so I’ve taken a peek at some of the likely Lucknow Super Giants starters instead.

Despite being on the receiving end of an historic series loss to Bangladesh, Quenton de Kock showed some good form in patches – notching 62 from just 41 balls in South Africa’s only win of the series.

Avesh Khan appeared in great nick in his only appearance for India in the Twenty20 international series win over Sri Lanka last month – claiming 1/23 from four overs.

Team News

Mark Wood will not have any part to play of the 2022 season after being ruled out for the entirety of the season with an elbow injury – the ever-dependable Andrew Tye is replacing him.

Elsewhere, international duty means the likes of Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, and Marcus Stoinis will miss the Super Giants’ first few fixtures.

Player to Watch: Quinton de Kock

I really like this player – he plays unselfishly through his frantic, score-at-all-costs approach to batting.

He didn’t quite hit his straps for the Mumbai Indians last year, but still managed to average 29.70 across 11 innings. Whatsmore, he is one of the most capable wicket-keepers in world cricket – his addition to the squad is a massive coup for the Super Giants.

LSG’s Likely XI

KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Evin Lewis, Krunal Pandya, Dushmantha Chameera, K Gowtham, Ravi Bishnoi, Andrew Tye, Avesh Khan.

Venue & conditions

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is no stranger to hosting IPL matches – having held 83 contests before Monday’s game. The average first innings Twenty20 score at this stadium rocks in at 167, suggesting it’s a track that favours the batting side.

The weather is forecast to be very hot and sunny throughout the day on Monday. The dew factor will no doubt come into the minds of the captains at the toss.
