Jaffna Kings News

The Kings lost their first game of the 2021 LPL by a wide margin. Galle beat them by 54 runs as none of the Kings batsmen got going. Batting at no. 8, Wahab Riaz was the top-scorer with 27. Jayden Seales (3-23) and Maheesh Theekshana (1-21) were the pick of the Kings bowlers.

The champions need to improve quickly. In one of last year’s matches against Dambulla, Jaffna captain Thisara Perera made a 44-ball 97*. Perhaps he will lead from the front in this game.

Jaffna Kings’ Likely XI

Upul Tharanga, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Avishka Fernando, Sammu Ashan, Thisara Perera, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, Wahab Riaz, Suranga Lakmal, Maheesh Theekshana, Jayden Seales

Dambulla Giants News

Dambulla made a winning start to this year’s LPL on Monday. England batter Phil Salt smacked 64 off 27 balls as the Giants hit 190/7 to beat Kandy by 20 runs. Off-spinner Ramesh Mendis, who recently played his first T20I for Sri Lanka against India, was the best bowler for the Giants. He took 3-21 from four overs.

Dambulla met Jaffna three times in the 2020 LPL. Only two of the games were completed – Jaffna won both of them. I would expect the Jaffna vs Dambulla betting odds to suggest the Giants are outsiders for this match too.

Dambulla Giants’ Likely XI

Niroshan Dickwella, Phil Salt, Sohaib Maqsood, Dasun Shanaka, Sacha De Alwis, Najibullah Zadran, Nuwanidu Fernando, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Mendis, Imran Tahir, Nuwan Pradeep

Venue & conditions

This is the fourth match of the 2021 LPL to take place in Colombo at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. There has been some turn for spinners and the three first-innings totals so far have been quite different: 164/7, 190/7 and 116/8.

The weather forecast for this match predicts overcast conditions.

Jaffna Kings vs Dambulla Giants Toss Prediction

Dambulla played Jaffna three times in the 2020 LPL and won two of the three tosses. Looking ahead to the Jaffna vs Dambulla toss winner this time, I am picking Dambulla to make it 3/4 toss wins over Jaffna.

Jaffna Kings vs Dambulla Giants Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back Dambulla to win @ 1.98 with Pure Win

The Jaffna vs Dambulla match winner is hard to pick. On one hand, Dambulla won their first game of the 2021 LPL while Jaffna lost theirs. On the other hand, Jaffna have never lost to Dambulla.

I am going to back Dambulla because they have the extra confidence of that recent win over Kandy. Remember too that Jaffna have changed a lot this year. Only four players from last year’s final also played in Jaffna’s first game of 2021. This is why my win prediction is for Dambulla to make it two wins from two matches.
