The Warriors lost their first game of the 2021 LPL. They made 170/8 chasing 191 to beat Dambulla. West Indian star Rovman Powell top-scored with a 21-ball 42. The bowlers were expensive, but at least Lahiru Kamara took three wickets.

Last season, Kandy beat Galle by 25 runs in their first meeting, then lost the second game by 9 wickets. To beat Galle this time, the Warriors must be better with both bat and ball. Charith Asalanka, who made 44 on his Sri Lanka T20I debut against India in July, is one to watch at the top of the order.
