So near but so far for the Mumbai Indians – they came painfully close to registering their first win of the IPL season on Friday, but MS Dhoni sparked into life in the final over to deny them. Rohit Sharma looked like a broken man at the end of the game – but the cricket field is the perfect stage to bounce back!

It’s now a question of salvaging some pride for Sharma and MI – but they face an exciting and explosive Lucknow Super Giants side focused on making a name for its franchise in the tournament. After analysing the live cricket satta rates, key stats, and team news, I have compiled a broad range of LSG vs MI betting tips in my full match preview below.

Thinking of placing some pre-match bets before a ball is bowled? Find all the IPL betting you need with Bet India!

The action gets underway at 7.30 pm (IST) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

LSG vs MI Betting Odds

The LSG vs MI betting odds firmly favour the former – unsurprisingly, given MI’s unprecedented losing run.

Confidence is on the floor in the MI camp, and I cannot see them bouncing back here! My cricket predictions revolve around a comfortable win for the LSG. For more LSG vs MI betting tips, read below!

LSG vs MI Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back LSG to win @ 1.8 with Parimatch

I am sticking with the LSG vs MI betting odds and backing a win for KL Rahul’s side!

Before focusing on the merits of LSG, I must first address the travails of the Mumbai Indians. They are the first team in IPL history to lose their first seven straight games – a record no cricket fan would have thought possible for the competition’s second-most successful side.

On top of that, it’s their worst run in IPL history. A team needs a minimum of 14 points to guarantee a spot in the IPL playoffs – effectively, their bid for IPL glory is all-but-over at the halfway stage.

The LSG, on the other hand, are enjoying an encouraging campaign. The signing of KL Rahul – an opening batter that has finished in the top three in the race for the Orange Cap in the previous three seasons – is predictably paying dividends.

What is more, they have already defeated MI this season. Last weekend, they hit 199/4 – thanks to a century by captain fantastic Rahul – and limited MI to 181/9 to win by 18 runs.

The LSG vs MI betting markets suggest a win for the newcomers, and I am in agreement. I will place my pre-match winner bet with Parimatch – they offer fantastic odds at competitive prices. Read our Parimatch review here.

Today’s LSG vs MI Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back LSG to win, KL Rahul (LSG) and Quinton de Kock (LSG) both to hit 1+ six @ 3.80 with Betway

There are some fantastic LSG vs MI betting specials at Betway – none more so than my Hot Bet.

I believe it will be a comfortable win for LSG, so I was looking into combining the pre-match betting price with in-game actions – I discovered a pre-built special that ticks the box.

Both KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock are no stranger to hitting sixes. Indeed, both have hit at least one six in three of their last four innings. I think 3.80 is a big price on this LSG vs MI betting market, which is why I am making it my Hot Bet.

LSG Recent Form

Exciting, although there will be a tinge of disappointment emanating from the camp after their defeat to the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday.

Despite restricting the RCB to 62/4, they allowed Faf de Plessis to get away and in the end, chasing 182 proved 18 too many for the Lucknow Super Giants.

They will hope to draw upon the experience of beating the Mumbai Indians once already this season – in that game, KL Rahul hit a century and Avesh Khan bagged 3/30 from four overs.

They sit fourth in the table at the time of writing – though their position is likely to change depending on the results of Saturday’s double-header.

Team News

After losing Mark Wood to an injury at the beginning of the tournament, the LSG are running well with a lack of injuries. AJ Tye, his replacement, is struggling to nail down a place in the side, sitting out the last three games. He may well come back into the fold, with team management no doubt looking to stem the flow of runs.

In other news, skipper Rahul was fined 20% of his match-fee for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct laws, while Marcus Stoinis was reprimanded for a furious outburst following his dismissal.

Player to Watch: Marcus Stoinis

The Aussie finisher is utilising his long levers to great effect since coming into the Lucknow Super Giants fold.

He has scores of 24 from 15 balls (vs RCB), 10 from nine balls (vs MI), and 38 from 17 balls (vs RR) – it feels to me like he is building up to a big innings! He can also bowl and is very useful in the field thanks to bucket hands and a huge throw.

I will be backing Marcus Stoinis to be man of the match as a side bet – you can back him at 11.0 with Betway.

LSG’s Likely XI

KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan.

Mumbai Indians Recent Form

Record-breakingly awful. They are writing all the wrong records this year – including the most straight defeats in a row at the beginning of a season from any IPL side, and their worst run of form ever.

Now, it’s a matter of pride. The worst losing streak in IPL history belongs to the Delhi Daredevils back in the 2014-15 campaign – they must find a win soon or risk emulating what many consider to be the worst-performing side ever to play in the IPL.

The Mumbai Indians had the game locked up against the Chennai Super Kings, who needed 17 from the final over – the first ball of which was a wicket! To lose from that position is a sure-fire confirmation that things are not going your way.

Rohit Sharma looked desolate walking off the field – he will need to rally his troops to salvage some sporting dignity.

Team News

Other than pride, there were no injuries to report in the aftermath of the defeat to the CSK.

Coach Mahela Jayawardene admitted his side are missing the pace of Jofra Archer, whom they bought in the IPL Mega Auction for Rs 8 crore knowing he would be unavailable for the entire season.

“Obviously, one of the best bowlers that we’ve bought in the auction is Jof (Jofra Archer) – Jof is not here. So, it is tough when you are in that kind of situation, but we are trying to see how best we can manage,” he said after the defeat to the PBKS.

Player to Watch: Daniel Sams

Jasprit Bumrah’s form has deserted him, but one bowler who stood out like a sore thumb in the defeat to CSK was Daniel Sams. The Aussie bowled disciplined lines and hit great lengths to take 4/30 from four overs.

I’m backing him to extend his run of good form and finish top wicket taker for MI against LSG. I will be placing my bet with 10CRIC at odds of 5.0.

MI’s Likely XI

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Tymal Mills, Basil Thampi

Venue & conditions

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been a bit of a graveyard for the Lucknow Super Giants this season – they have lost both of the games they have played there, while the Mumbai Indians are yet to play at the venue.

The last two games have been won by the team batting first, while the previous four matches were won by the team chasing.
