PBKS vs LSG Betting Odds

The PBKS vs LSG betting odds are siding with the LSG, who are strong favourites at 1.75 according to leading Indian betting site Parimatch.

I am surprised – I believe the Punjab Kings have more than enough in the locker to upset the odds and I will be backing them at evens as one of my premium cricket match betting tips.

PBKS vs LSG Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back PBKS to win @ 1.95 with Parimatch

Going hard and fast early is an approach the PBKS proudly wear on their sleeves, but of late, it’s been failing them. They have only won two of their last five games – including a dismal 9-wicket mauling at the hands of the Delhi Capitals.

However, they have so much talent in the top six that when they click, it’s enthralling to watch. It isn’t just their batting unit that goes for broke either – the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh are courageous in their length and lines that means even when they are behind in the game, you can never rule them out.

LSG are a tough team to predict – they have struggled to keep scoring down when bowling first so far this season, averaging 176.25 runs against. When they bat first, their average totals 173.5 – team management will want those totals reversed at a minimum if they are to be serious contenders.

The PBKS vs LSG betting odds are evenly balanced, but I am backing the former and I will do so with Parimatch. They have thousands of markets on the best IPL betting opportunities. Read our full Parimatch review to find out more.

Today’s PBKS vs LSG Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Liam Livingstone to be PBKS top batsman @ 4.5 with 10CRIC

I’ve already intimated to the hard and fast approach the PBKS undertake when batting. More often than not, this exposes their middle order much earlier than other teams in comparison.

Fortunately for the PBKS, their middle order contains one Liam Livingstone, who has been in the form of his life in this tournament. The earlier the PBKS can get him into the middle, the better their chances of winning the tie.

He has top scored for the PBKS on three occasions out of eight this campaign and although he hasn’t enjoyed the same sort of success he was enjoying at the beginning of the season, his crucial 19 runs from 7 balls against the Chennai Super Kings effectively saw his team over the 180 mark and to a winning target.

I think the nature of the PBKS attack-minded line-up lends itself to another Livingstone masterclass. I will be backing him to top score for the PBKS with 10CRIC – find out why I like to bet with them and read our full 10CRIC review.

Punjab Recent Form

The season’s situation was starting to look a little hairy for my pre-season tip to win the IPL – a run of three defeats in four meant their playoff hopes were beginning to drift.

However, a crucial win against defending champions the Chennai Super Kings last time out means they are right back in the mix. A win here would take them to 10 points and just two wins away from the magic 14 point mark.

They were unusually cumbersome in setting a target against the CSK (37-1 by the end of the powerplay is their lowest total of the season at that stage) but their late overs hitting was good enough to win them the game, and I expect them to turn the heat up on the opposition bowlers from the get-go this time around.

If you fancy a nibble at the PBKS to win the IPL, you can back them at 19.0 with Betway!

Team News

Team management decided to mix it up for the CSK game, bringing in Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Rishi Dhawan, and Sandeep Sharma coming in for Shahrukh Khan, Nathan Ellis, and Vaibhav Arora.

All the new faces played well – particularly Rajapaksa, who hit 42 from 32 balls in a 100-run partnership with Shikar Dhawan to set up victory over CSK.

I would not be surprised to see the PBKS stick with the same line-up.

Player to Watch: Arshdeep Singh

How this man is yet to win a cap for India is beyond me! When you consider the struggles of countryman Jasprit Bumrah for the Mumbai Indians, surely it’s only a matter of time until we see another exciting death bowler take his chance for his country.

He was exceptional in the victory over the CSK, and team-mate Rabada thinks his performances are reminiscent of a man at the top of his game: “I think Arsh has been the best death bowler in this competition. That’s what the stats say.” he told broadcasters after the game.

He’s not been a prolific wicket-taker this year (only three to his name) but his contributions at the end of an innings are massive. There are worse bets than backing him to be man of the match at a massive 17.0 with Betway!

PBKS’ Likely XI

Shikar Dhawan (c), Mayank Agarwal, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Liam Livingstone, Rishi Dhawan, Harpreet Brar, Sandeep Sharma, Rahul Chahar, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh.

Lucknow Recent Form

Mixed, but the Lucknow Super Giants have had a solid debut season in this competition! They are only two points away from sharing the summit of the IPL points table and will fancy their chances of making the playoffs.

Some cracks are beginning to show, however. They were never in the game against RCB, while a 3-run defeat to RR back on April 10th was galling.

I think they could fall just short against an aggressive PBKS unit.

Team News

There are no new injury concerns for the Lucknow Super Giants – but all eyes will be on the over rate! If KL Rahul commits a third offence in relation to a slow over rate, he may get a one match ban, as the IPL stipulates in the following:

“The third and each subsequent offence in a season as captain of the bowling team, the captain will be fined Rs. 30 lakh and banned from playing in the team’s next League Match.”

Player to Watch: KL Rahul

I don’t believe there is any such thing as a one man team, but KL Rahul is as close as it gets for the LSG. That is not to be disparaging about an exciting LSG line-up, moreso to highlight the quality of an elite IPL runscorer.

KL Rahul has 368 runs and at the time of writing, sits second in the race for the Orange Cap. Were he to finish there, he would make it four consecutive seasons of ending the campaign in the top three of the competition’s highest scorers.

It’s an obvious bet, which is why the price is so short, but I have to back him to finish as the LSG top runscorer against the PBKS at 2.50 with Betway.

LSG’s Likely XI

KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Manish Pandey, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan.

Venue & conditions

The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune hosts its eighth game of the season.

The wicket was hard graft for the batters of RR and RCB when they played on Tuesday 26th April, but in general it has been a high-scoring ground this season.

Given the depth in quality of each team’s respective batting stable, I can see it being another run-fest.
