Up next, our free cricket betting predictions for today’s IPL match! CSK simply can’t be ignored in the winner market with Chennai looking stronger than the Royals in every department. It makes this one of the most confident selections so far, even though it’s not at the biggest odds.

Rajasthan Royals Team News

RR’s race is run unless they win this. If they do, they will think that another two wins from their last two matches ‘might’ still get them to the Playoffs.

In truth, as we’ll see in a moment, they’re pretty unlikely to win this match. And they certainly haven’t played like a team who can win three in a row in this league.

Defeat here and it’s a very different story. Not only can they forget about making the Playoffs but they’ll be more worried about not finishing bottom of the table.

We have to have a bit of sympathy for the Rajasthan Royals. Their three big overseas stars are Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer and none of those three are available.

Still, their middle-order always looked weak and they have a habit of not picking the right players.

Just as an example, why isn’t Tabraiz Shamsi, the Number 1 T20I bowler in the world, not playing?

RR Likely XI

Lewis, Jaiswal, Samson, Livingstone, Lomror, Parag, Tewatia, Morris, Unadkat, Sakariya, Rahman.

Another game, another win. Chennai Super Kings keep finding new and varied ways of winning games. Last time out they sort of crawled to what was a straightforward-looking chase thanks to good starts from Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The match before that they got over the line with a single off the final ball of the innings getting them home.

Whatever you throw at them, they seem to handle it and win anyway.

Another point about them is that everyone contributes. They’ve had just about a different hero in each win and a side with that many match-winners is surely destined for success.

They’re the IPL favourites for a reason.

CSK Likely XI

Gaikwad, du Plessis, Ali, Raina, Rayudu, Dhoni, Jadeja, Bravo, Chahar, Thakur, Hazlewood.

Venue & conditions

The last three scores batting first have been around the 130, 150 and 170 mark. That would make you think that 155 is about par but the wicket has played considerably differently from game to game, so it’s not easy to know what to expect.

But one tactic might be to go low on Rajasthan runs should they bat first. If they get off to a decent start, try going under 155 runs for the Royals. CSK’s bowlers can easily bite back.

Rajasthan Royals v Chennai Super Kings Head-to-Head

It’s 15-9 in favour of CSK. They’ve been so consistent over the years that they have a winning record against just about anyone. Last season the Royals beat them twice in what was CSK’s worst-ever season but CSK hit back this year, winning by a massive 45 run margin.

Rajasthan Royals v Chennai Super Kings Toss Prediction

Interestingly, the 15-9 record that CSK have in terms of wins is the very same record that Rajasthan have in terms of toss wins. We normally trust Dhoni at the toss but in light of that record, we have to go with the Royals.

Recommended Bet: Back CSK to win @ 1.65 with Pure Win

CSK are 1.65 to win and it’s hard to argue that’s not a decent price.

This may sound a tad simplistic but they’re better than their opponents in all regards. They have more players on India duty, better quality overseas stars, a more experienced captain, better tactics and more match-winners to call on.

They’ve shown better form and of course have that considerable head to head record, as well.

We don’t normally advise betting favourites below 1.7 unless they’re real champion teams. But then again, that’s exactly what CSK are looking like right now.

RR vs CSK Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Dwayne Bravo to be CK Top Bowler @ 4.0 with Betway

Dwayne Bravo was extremely unlucky last time out in this market.

He took two wickets from his four overs and only conceded 17 runs. Those who backed him for T20 top bowler honours must have thought they were home and dry.

That was until Josh Hazlewood took a couple of late wickets to end up on 3/24.

But Bravo has been CSK’s stand-out bowler since the IPL moved to the UAE and he should go well again. Let’s hope he doesn’t get unlucky again.

Rajasthan vs Chennai fun facts

Let’s round things off with some fun facts ahead of the game.

  • No Royals player got to 50 when these two played earlier this season. Jos Buttler was best with 49. But in reply, no CSKJ batsman got to 50 either despite the fact they won.
  • In that game Moeen Ali was man of the match after an excellent 3-7 with the ball.
  • Three CSK players are all on 11 wickets for the season; Bravo, Thakur and Chahar.
