West Indies vs Pakistan Betting Odds

Up next are free cricket betting tips for the two Test heavyweights.

West Indies won the first Test match by the narrowest of margins (and to some part, fielding blunders by Pakistan).

As for the men in green, they put up a good show but owing to a few lapses here and there, the game practically slipped away from them. West Indies won the match by just one wicket.

Boosted by that emphatic win and the home advantage, the Indies will be confident of pulling yet another win here, if not avoid the defeat.

I’m going to back them to win or draw the second Test game.

West Indies vs Pakistan 2nd Test Betting Tips & Predictions: Team News and Form Analysis

West Indies Team News

Credit where it is due, West Indies bowlers did a phenomenal job of restricting Pakistan’s batsmen from putting up a huge score in both innings. The bowler-friendly pitch certainly did its part but the fact that the Caribbean hosts stepped up to the occasion is commendable.

19-year-old Jayden Seales picked up eight wickets over five days (including the five-wicket haul in the second inning). With that, he also etched his name in the record books as the youngest West Indies bowler to pick up five wickets in an inning.

His efforts were complemented further by the likes of Kemar Roach and Jason Holder, who picked up five and four wickets respectively.

The batting, however, could benefit from some work. Looking to match and surpass Pakistan’s first-inning score of 217, Kraigg Braithwaite’s 97 runs is what allowed the hosts to stay in the fight. Holder’s half-century was just as crucial in this regard.

Chasing a target of 168 runs on the fifth day, West Indies’ opening order collapsed fairly quickly. Just when Pakistan were starting to sense the victory, Jermaine Blackwood gave his side a fighting chance with his 55 off 78.

But what got them over the line was the last-wicket partnership steered by Roach. His timely 30 off 52 got them through in a situation when one more wicket would have meant a win for Pakistan.

West Indies Likely XI

Kraigg Braithwaite, Kieran Powell, Nkrumah Bonner, Roston Chase, Kyle Mayers, Jermaine Blackwood, Rahkeeem Cornwall, Jason Holder, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Jomel Warrican

Pakistan Team News

It is fair to say that the first Test match was Pakistan’s to lose.

Despite putting up just 217 runs on the board in the first inning, the bowlers did not allow their hosts to take a huge lead – something that ultimately led to a low-scoring affair.

In the match, Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up eight wickets while the likes of Mohammad Abbas, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf also aided with the red ball.

But what ultimately cost them the victory was three dropped catches in the final session of the match, two of which were Roach’s who moved on to seal the win. After playing wonderfully the last five days, the fact that they lost the game possibly on account of misfielding is a bitter pill to swallow.

At the same time, the misfiring in batting order can also be pinpointed to some extend. Babar Azam and Fawad Alam were the top scorers for Pakistan whereas the opening pair of Imran Butt and Abid Ali seemed to struggle a bit in the tough conditions in Jamaica.

The likes of Ashraf and Mohammad Rizwan also added some runs over the two innings which allowed Pakistan to stay competitive in the match.

For the second Test, conditions are likely to remain dire for batsmen and friendly for bowlers. The Pakistani batsmen will need to up their game and prove their mettle if they want to stage a comeback.

Pakistan Likely XI

Imran Butt, Babar Azam, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Fawad Alam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Abbas, Nauman Ali, Faheem Ashraf

Venue & conditions

While the temperature at the Sabina Park in Kingston is likely to remain around the 31-degree Celsius mark, the forecast is predicted to be cloudy with a few rain interruptions over the five-day period.

As for the pitch itself, seamers had a far better time than spinners and teams are likely to go big in the pace department. Meanwhile, we all saw the batting struggles in the two sides. I don’t expect a huge turnaround in this department and we’re likely in store for another 200-300 score match.

This is a good avenue to exploit from a betting perspective with wickets and ‘total runs – under’ markets serving as favourite options.

West Indies vs Pakistan Head-to-Head

This will be their 53rd meeting in the Test format.

Following that defeat in the first one, Pakistan’s lead is now reduced to 20-18 with 15 matches ending in a draw.

Recommended Bet: Back West Indies to win @ 3.50 with Betway

All right, I know what you are thinking – West Indies cannot possibly pull a win like that again – that they got lucky in the first one.

You may be right but let’s not forget that the hosts are much better suited to the conditions than their Pakistani counterparts. And then there is the matter of them sailing high on confidence – after all, they won their first Test match since February.

Their bowlers have done a very fine job and now that they know what has worked for them, they can build upon it further. Batting wise, they have plenty of talent in their ranks to make life difficult for the visitors.

That said, like for like, Pakistan players still remain superior to that of West Indies. I’m backing the opposite bet because the underdogs have shown the grit and heart to win and sometimes, you need that more than anything else.

Of course, if the game goes in a different direction, West Indies will be just as happy to settle for a draw.

Today’s West Indies vs Pakistan Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Jayden Seales to be West Indies Top Bowler 1st Innings @ 3.90 with 10CRIC

Seales is brimming with joy and confidence following his superb performance and is a definite starter once again.

The pitch in Jamaica is suited for seamers like him which means the conditions are prime for him to repeat his heroics once again. Jason Holder also serves as an appealing bet but Seales has got that fire, energy, and sheer raw talent to bowl his heart out.
