Pakistan vs West Indies Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back Pakistanto win @ 1.6 with Parimatch in live betting.

The First ODI waa a reminder that there are many ways to skin a cat. And that’s just an expression, by the way! I don’t literally mean it.

Pakistan were 1.36 ahead of the first game and the easy route would have been to just back them before the game started.

But I suspected I could get a bigger price on them with live betting.

“It’s very possible that the loss of an early Pakistan wicket if they bat first or a decent start for the Windies with the bat sees Pakistan reach the 1.6 mark in live betting.

If they do at any stage, then is the time to back them.”

Pakistan reached that quote on two occasions.

First, when the West Indies looked like they might get about 320 batting first and second when Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman cheaply and stuttered a bit.

So you would have two chances to back them at very decent prices.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with going with the same strategy again.

After all, betting is about turning a profit by whatever means, it‘s not an exercise in trying to find new betting strategies just for the sake of it.

If the Windies start strongly with the bat or Pakistan lose one of their openers early, you should be able to get those odds of 1.6 in live betting again.

And if they never reach those odds, then so be it.

The point here is that the Windies look competitive but probably lack the bowling resources to actually win the match.

That’s why I’m looking for a bigger price on Pakistan than a bet at big odds on the Windies.

Pakistan’s Recent Form

A mixed performance from Pakistan but ultimately, they won.

That’s the important thing and in the past they haven’t always been the best at completing the job.

With the ball they probably conceded about 20 more than they would have liked with Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf particularly expensive. At least Rauf took four wickets, Ali didn’t take any.

With the bat there were familiar faces scoring the bulk of the runs.

Imam Ul Haq scored 65 before playing an ill-advised reverse sweep, Mohammad Rizwan got 59 and Babar Azam was at his brilliant best with a near-flawless103.

But in the end they needed a smash-and-grab effort of 41 off 23 by Kushdil Shah which included four sixes just as Pakistan’s asking run rate was rising.

In an interesting quirk, Azam won the man-of-the-match award after his brilliant century but gave it to Shah, who finished things off.

Cricinfo reported Shah had won it. He didn’t. Officially it was Azam.

Hasan Ali may be vulnerable with the likes of Mohammad Wasim and Shahnawaz Dahani. But Ali can bat and the others can’t really so it would be quite a long tail if Ali doesn’t feature.

West Indies’s Recent Form

They may have lost but they put in an excellent effort in defeat, only losing in the last over of the match and actually traded at quite short odds as we’ve seen already, although never quite as favorites.

Key to it all was an excellent partnership by Shai Hope (127) and Shamarh Brooks (70).

We all know about Hope; he’s one of the best ODI opening batsmen in the game with a phenomenal record of 12 centuries in 93 matches with an average of 52.28.

He’s also one of the most reliable bets when it comes to top batsman markets and won once again on Wednesday.

And if the likes of Brooks, Brandon King, Rovman Powell and skipper Nicholas Pooran can give him support, they can become a strong batting line-up now that players like Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle don’t feature for them anymore.

Once again skipper Pooran started a job he didn’t finish.

He was just getting going 21 off 16 and if he’d hung around a bit longer they would have had a really good total on the board. Pooran needs to learn to be a bit more patient rather than just going for broke.

With the ball Akeal Hossein and Alzarri Joseph were very impressive but Hayden Walsh had an off day; if he’d bowled better they may have defended that total.

They might think about bringing in Keemo Paul, although they do admittedly have enough all-rounders in the side.

Pakistan vs West Indies Head-to-Head

These two first played each other back in June 1975 and have faced off a total of 135 times.

And it’s the Windies who are in front on wins, with 71 to Pakistan’s 61. The Windies won each of their first seven ODIs played against the men in green.

Interestingly, there have been three ties in games between them.

Venue & conditions

We’re at Multan again for the Second ODI.

So here’s what we know about it from the first game.

It’s clearly a good batting wicket where both set batsmen can easily accumulate runs but also one where players coming down the order can score quickly without having to play themselves in.

Shah got 41 off 23 batting at five, Shepherd 25 off 18 at seven and Powell 32 off 23 at number six.

So you’d think getting to 300 again would be the bare minimum for whoever bats first. But if it’s Pakistan, don’t be afraid to bet on them to get over 320 runs on the first innings runs market.

It was noticeable that the Pakistan batsmen sometimes found it hard to time the ball under lights.

So Multan may be one of those rare grounds where it may be best to bat first and hope scoreboard pressure and the lights help your cause when defending a total.
