My MI vs KKR betting prediction article looks at the recent form of both teams, analyses the awful campaign that the MI have so far endured, and weighs up KKR’s chances of making the playoffs.

The less said about the Mumbai Indians’ campaign, the better. The five-time champions are the most successful side in the history of the IPL, but have won just twice in ten attempts this year. There are several mitigating factors – the absence of Jofra Archer throughout the campaign was always planned (the MI signed him in the Mega Auction despite understanding his injury situation), but they could really do with someone of his ability at the moment. The loss of form of Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah has also been hugely damaging – they are the MI’s star players, but haven’t been able to get going at all. Team management did not opt to retain Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, and Trent Boult – how they wish they could call upon the talents of all three!

The KKR have also had a very disappointing campaign! They must win all their remaining games to stand a chance of sneaking into the playoffs, but they will also need results to go their way. They do not enter my IPL betting 2022 calculations – a crushingly disappointing campaign for franchise fans who are still recovering from the heartbreak of their IPL 21 final defeat.

I have been looking at the live cricket satta rates ahead of the clash, and put together my best bets. Check out my full review below – the action gets underway from 7.30 pm (IST) on Monday 9th May at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Betting Odds

The MI vs KKR betting odds are slanted in favour of the MI – and I cannot agree with the oddsmakers. I just don’t think the Mumbai Indians have the form to challenge.

I am backing the Knight Riders to come out on top – they represent great value at the price. For bigger odds and other free cricket betting tips, read my full preview below.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back the KKR to win @ 2.1 with Pure Win

I am surprised the MI vs KKR betting odds favour the MI’s chances of winning. True, the KKR are in wretched form and the MI have finally started winning again, but there is more than enough evidence to suggest the Knight Riders can win here.

They may have been dismissed for just 101 against the Lucknow Super Giants, but they were convincing in beating the Rajasthan Royals in the game previous – plus, they have already beaten the MI once this season.

Back on April 6th, a stunning 16-ball 56 from Pat Cummins led the KKR to a five-wicket victory – the destructive innings may have had a bigger psychological impact on the Mumbai Indians than we realised at the time.

It feels blunt to type, but just because the Mumbai Indians are remembering the basics of winning cricket games does not mean they are returning to the force of old.

I will be backing the KKR to win and I will be placing my bets with Pure Win – they are my go-to Indian betting site for all match winner markets because they tend to offer the best odds.

Today’s Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back SP Narine to be KKR’s top bowler @ 4.5 with 10CRIC

He may be struggling to take wickets, but you cannot argue with Narine’s contribution to the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 22.

He has the best economy rate in the competition, bowling more overs than anyone in the competition. Boasting an average economy rate of 5.22, he has also taken eight wickets .

Opposing batsmen are treating Narine with lots of respect so far this season – opting to see him out rather than attacking him. However, patience has hardly been a strong point for the Mumbai Indians so far this season – given the way they have played this campaign, I can see certain members of the MI line-up giving their wicket away.

I will be placing my bet with 10CRIC – they are my go-to betting site when it comes to backing individual player markets. Read our 10CRIC review to find out more.

Mumbai Indians Recent Form

After a run of seven eight defeats, the Mumbai Indians can count two wins from two as an unqualified success!

Their win against table toppers Gujarat Titans was surprising – mainly because of the match situation. The Titans were cruising at 156/3 in pursuit of 178 with two-and-a-half overs left. However, a brilliant run out by Ishan Kishan and a superb final over from Daniel Sams helped the MI pull off an unlikely victory to register only their second win of the campaign.

Despite the (very) recent form, I cannot see the Mumbai Indians making it three from three.

Team News

South African wicket-keeper batsman Tristan Stubbs has been signed to replace the injured Tymal Mills – he has gone back to England for treatment on an ankle injury.

Jofra Archer remains out for the season with an elbow injury.

Player to Watch: Daniel Sams

The Australian all rounder stepped up to deliver a timely win for his franchise against the Gujarat Titans. Sams conceded just three runs and bowled three dot balls in a phenomenal final over to ensure back-to-back victories for his embattled side.

It’s long been a face-saving season for the Mumbai Indians, and Sams is leading the mission – he’s been in brilliant form of late, and given his economic bowling rates and lower-order hitting abilities, I am backing him to make his mark.

You can bet on him to be man of the match at 18.0 with 10CRIC.

MI’s Likely XI

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Dewald Brevis, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Kumar Kartikeya, Riley Meredith, Jasprit Bumrah.

KKR Recent Form

It was a wretched display with the bat by the Kolkata Knight Riders in a 75-run defeat against the high-flying Lucknow Super Giants – a performance reflecting their IPL 22 campaign in many respects.

They were always in the game, having reduced the LSG to 176/7, but only a typically aggressive Andre Russell innings (45 from 19 balls) prevented it being a triple-digit defeat.

Just a few days beforehand, the KKR looked to have dragged their season back on the rails with a convincing 7-wicket win over the Royals.

Infuriatingly inconsistent, the Knight Riders now must win to stand a chance of making he playoffs.

Team News

Leading wicket-taker Umesh Yadav had to miss the LSG defeat due to a calf injury. It’s not certain whether he will recover in time, so replacement Harshit Rana is on standby to deputise once more.

The KKR have had to chop and change their starting XI throughout the campaign due to minor knocks and injuries. The lack of stability has been a big issue for Shreyas Iyer and his side.

Player to Watch: Rinku Singh

The 24 year-old was man of the match against the Rajasthan Royals – he hit 48 runs from 23 balls in a devastating, match-winning knock.

Acquired by the KKR for Rs 55 Lakhs in the Mega Auction, Singh is at least providing some optimism for future campaigns.

I will place a small interest bet on the Aligarh-based batter to top score for the Knight Riders – you can back him at 7.50 with Betway!

KKR’s Likely XI

Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rakish Salam, Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy.

Venue & conditions

The Chennai Super Kings smashed 208 runs here yesterday – in reply the Delhi Capitals only managed 117 runs.

It was the first score over the 158 mark at this venue since April 19th, when the Royal Challengers Bangalore hit 181.

In general, this wicket has been favouring the bowling side. I reckon the DY Patil Stadium could facilitate a low-scoring affair.

Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders Head-to-Head

The Mumbai Indians are the most successful side in the history of the IPL – and are surging ahead in the MI vs KKR head to head statistics.

However, the KKR are searching for their third straight win over their prospective opponents.

Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders Toss Prediction

The KKR have won their last two straight coin flips – and I’m backing Shreyas Iyer to make it three on the bounce.
