As part of our online cricket betting analysis, find the best Afghanistan vs Pakistan betting tips and predictions below.
Pakistan have been on fire in the competition right from the beginning. They have already positioned themselves as one of the heavy favourites to go the distance with some impeccable cricket all-around.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, also started well but things are set to get difficult going forward.
Between the two, the Men in Green make for the far obvious choice and that’s who we are going to back in our Afghanistan vs Pakistan betting predictions.
Afghanistan started their World Cup campaign with an emphatic win over Scotland, trumping them by a whopping 130 runs. Batting first, the Afghans posted 190-4 with Hazratullah Zazai, Najibullah Zadran, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz each scoring 40+ runs.
When it came to defending the target, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman ripped through Scotland’s line-up, getting them all out at just 60 runs.
Khan took four wickets, Rahman took five. Scotland’s inning also entailed five duck outs and three players who scored in single digits. As a result, Afghanistan are also leading on the net run rate front with +6.500.
Of course, not much is to be read from this win – Scotland are not among the strongest cricketing teams but a win over them certainly bodes well for your confidence and form.
But this upcoming game against Pakistan will be a big one. Afghanistan have shown a tendency to perform with the bat and ball but Pakistan are clearly superior to them in every regard. They will need to bring their A-game here, notably the likes of Khan, Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi.
Zaizai can also step up and benefit from his experience in the Pakistan Super League, where he batted well against many Pakistan’s bowlers whom he will face on Friday once again.
Afghanistan’s Likely XI
Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Shahzad, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Asghar Afghan, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Pakistan Team News
First, a 10-wicket victory over their arch-rivals India and then, a five-wicket thumping of New Zealand – Pakistan mean business in this year’s T20 World Cup.
They lead Group 2 with four points and march imperiously to the semifinals with no signs of slowing down. With the Kiwis, they managed to restrict their opponents to just 134-8 and responded with 135-5 with eight deliveries to spare.
Against India, Shaheen Shah Afridi led the charge with the ball and picked up three wickets. In the New Zealand match, it was Haris Rauf’s four-wicket haul that proved to be decisive in chasing a comfortable target.
With the bat, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam sealed the deal against the Indians while in the next game, it was Shoaib Malik (26 off 20) who stepped up after a slight fumble in their opening order.
All across the board, Pakistan are enjoying the impeccable depth that others envy and are playing as a unit rather than relying on individual prowess. There is plenty of experience and talent to go around and they will certainly fancy their chances to make it three for three against when they take on Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Likely XI
Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi
Venue & conditions
We are in Dubai for this one where the pitch is favourable for batting and bowling. However, the larger boundaries mean batsmen will have to put in more effort to score big runs. That said, a first-inning score upwards of 150-160 would certainly be competitive.
This is a day-night match where dew will play a role and the team batting second may benefit from the chase.
The two sides have met just once in T20 cricket and not so surprisingly, it is Pakistan who lead 1-0 in the H2H tally against Afghanistan.
The match, however, took place in February 2013.
Afghanistan vs Pakistan Toss Prediction
Afghanistan won the toss in that sole T20 encounter against Pakistan and are up 100% in the coin toss department. However, in our Afghanistan vs Pakistan toss prediction, let’s back Pakistan to win it this time and make things even there.
Pakistan obviously have played a lot more international cricket against the big teams than Afghanistan. They have enjoyed more international tours and thanks to the Pakistan Super League, have had plenty of opportunities to develop new talent.
There is no doubt that they will start as the favourites in Dubai, but will need to be wary of Afghan’s bowling attack. Khan and Rahman have been sensational but the pitch in Dubai is geared towards batting – meaning there is a real possibility that they may not be able to repeat the Sharjah heroics over Scotland here.
Batting wise too, Pakistan have been in good form and we can expect Rizwan and Azam to keep the tempo going. While an upset is on the cards, it is highly unlikely we will see one.

Between Haris Rauf and Afridi, it is the latter who has impressed a tad bit more with his superb pace and swing. He was the leading wicket-taker against India in Dubai, and may very well achieve the feat again with Afghanistan.
After all, Afridi will bowl his full four overs and will have plenty of time to show off his skills against the relatively inept batting unit of the Afghans.
