Liverpool vs Chelsea betting predictions

This is expected to be a thrilling encounter with plenty of football betting opportunities – given the defensive strengths of the two sides, markets favouring low goal outcomes would be the way to go.

Both sides sit at the top of the table and are yet to concede a goal so far in the season.

But if I’m to pick a favourite, it would be Chelsea. They have looked absolutely impeccable under Thomas Tuchel and now with Romelu Lukaku on their side, the Blues are nothing short of unstoppable.

Liverpool v Chelsea Betting Tips & Predictions: Team News and Form Analysis

Liverpool Recent Form

Five goals in two matches, zero goals conceded – Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with the way the Reds have started their EPL campaign. But now, they face their toughest test yet when they take on the mighty Chelsea.

The opening games against Norwich (3-0) and Burnely (2-0) certainly served as excellent practice runs heading into this tricky encounter on Saturday.

Mohammad Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino have scored the goals so far and it is certainly an assuring sign to see these forwards find their stride early on in the season. Defensively, Trent Alexander-Arnold has been superb in both the matches and now with the return of Virgil van Dijk, their backline is more than reinforced.

Fabinho, who missed out the last weekend’s game due to personal reasons, is also expected to mark his return in the match. The same holds good for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain too.

Liverpool have been exceptionally quiet in the transfer window this season with Ibrahima Konate being their only signing so far. The emphasis has been on retaining their existing players and the hope is that they can repeat their title run from the season previous to last.

Liverpool Likely XI

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Dijk, Robertson, Thiago, Henderson, Keita, Salah, Jota, Mane

Liverpool vs Chelsea Betting Tips & Predictions: Team News and Form Analysis

Chelsea Recent Form

Chelsea have enjoyed an exactly similar start to Liverpool’s – a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the opener followed by the 2-0 rout of Arsenal last weekend.

But what separates them from their opponents is the return of the prodigal son Romelu Lukaku. If Chelsea weren’t formidable enough as it is, Lukaku’s presence is sure to change that.

The Belgian striker marked his return to Chelsea with a handsome goal against the Gunners and by the looks of it, he looks primed to maintain that rhythm. He was the top scorer for Inter Milan in Serie A last year and may very well repeat that feat again – this time with his former side.

Under Tuchel, Chelsea have gone largely unbeaten in the last several months. Barring a 1-0 loss to Leicester City in FA Cup, the Blues have won a good majority of their fixtures convincingly. And the fact that they won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup only makes them far more daunting.

Chelsea will feature a full-strength squad on the back of zero injury concerns. The forward trio of Lukaku, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz is likely to make things problematic for Liverpool defenders but then again, you got to beat the best to be the best.

Chelsea Likely XI

Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, James, Kante, Jorginho, Alonso, Mount, Havertz, Lukaku

Liverpool vs Chelsea Head-to-Head

In the 188 times the two sides have met in all competitions, Liverpool lead Chelsea 82-65 with 41 matches ending in a draw.

The two sides last met in this exact fixture in the Premier League in March where Chelsea prevailed by 1-0.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Facts

  • Liverpool have lost just two of their last 13 Premier League matches to Chelsea
  • The Reds have won their last seven EPL matches
  • Chelsea are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 away games
  • The Blues have conceded just 17 goals in their last 33 matches

Liverpool vs Chelsea Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back Chelsea to win or draw @ 1.49 with 10CRIC

Liverpool may have the home advantage and a psychological edge but Tuchel’s Chelsea look determined and ready to spoil the party.

In all honesty, Liverpool can just as easily win this match but the Lukaku factor is what sets the two teams apart. That, and the fact that Chelsea have enjoyed a much better run in the pre-season friendlies.

If not a win for the Blues, then a draw isn’t too bad of a result to settle for either between the two Premier League heavyweights. In case you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can always back Chelsea to win at much higher oods.

Full Time Total Corners Over 9.5

Recommended Bet: Total Corners Over 9.5 @ 2.10 with Betway

In the last two matches that Liverpool have played, there have been well over 10.5 corners (14 against Norwich and 12 against Burnley).

As for Chelsea, they saw an astounding 17 corners in total against the Gunners.

Considering this, along with the impressive attacking line up in two sides, we may very well see quite a few corners from both teams.

Under 2.5 Goals in the Match

Recommended Bet: Back Under 2.5 Goals in the Match @ 1.81 with Casumo

Only two of their last five Premier League encounters have seen over 2.5 goals.

This early in the season, it is quite unlikely that Liverpool or Chelsea will break that pattern and go on a netting spree. Given the defensive prowess of the two sides, it is fair to assume that this may be another low scoring affair.
