Pakistan vs Namibia Betting Odds

Today’s Pakistan vs Namibia betting odds have Pakistan as red-hot favourites. It’s hard to argue with that. There’s no area where Namibia can compete with them and if this looks like it could be the easiest of wins for Pakistan, then that could well be what happens.

So I simply have to go with Pakistan, even at short odds.

There are also cricket betting tips on the toss winner and I’ve picked a classy Pakistan batsman as top match batsman to round things off.

Pakistan Team News

Who would have thought that it would be Afghanistan and not India or New Zealand giving Babar Azam’s men the biggest test to date?

Having posted a par total, Afghanistan defended it with their lives and there were no surprises that it was Rashid Khan who was the hardest to get away.

Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan fell cheaply for a change so it was left to Azam to anchor the innings, which he did very well for a workmanlike 51. But he was guilty of trying to smash Khan away for a boundary for the very last ball of his fourth over when there was no need to and got out.

Fakhar Zaman and Shoiab Malik played their part with some runs but it was Asif Ali who turned the game around in the space of just seven deliveries.

They yielded 25 runs thanks to four sixes and from needing 24 off 12, they won it with an over to spare.

The two doubts about this side were whether they could win games when both openers weren’t getting lots of runs and whether they had firepower down the order to get them over the line.

For the time being, they’ve answered both questions.

Pakistan’s Likely XI

Rizwan, Azam, Zaman, Hafeez, Malik, Ali, Khan, Wasim, Ali, Rauf, Afridi.

Namibia Team News

There was lots to like about Namibia in their first few games but then again, Scotland and Ireland aren’t at the same level as the likes of Afghanistan.

And if Namibia got comprehensively beaten by Rashid Khan and co, one fears for what might happen when they play Pakistan here.

The truth is they’re a level below what the rest of the tournament are at and that’s hardly surprising.

They have far less players to pick from than other countries and the only man who might get into a side like Pakistan or Australia would be David Wiese and even then, that’s pushing it.

Wiese had a good game yet again. He didn’t take any wickets but an economy rate of 8.25 was ok and when his turn came to bat, he top scored wirth 26 to provide us with a good winner after I tipped him at 4.1.

The problem Namibia have, like lots of other non-elite teams, is that they struggle to rotate the strike and tend to play out too many dot balls.

But they actually bowled pretty well on a good pitch and restricting Afghanistan to 160 was actually a decent effort.

Namibia’s Likely XI

Williams, van Lingen, Loftie-Eaton, Erasmus, Green, Wiese, Smit, Frylinck, Y aFrance, Trumpelmann, Scholtz.

Venue & conditions

Namibia will be playing their third game in a row in Abu Dhabi so should know the conditions well. Not that it’s going to get any easier against the tournament favourites.

It was actually a decent batting wicket on Sunday so if Pakistan bat first, they could easily get to 180+.

But with Pakistan’s all-star bowling attack and Namibia’s inability to rotate the strike and score many boundaries, it could be a very different story if it’s them batting first.

It would be no surprise if Namibia failed to get to 110. Here’s our Abu Dhabi Sheikh stadium guide where you’ll find some useful tips for betting at the venue.

Pakistan vs Namibia Head-to-Head

These two have never played each other. No surprise given Namibia very rarely play World Cups and that they never play each other in bilateral series.

Pakistan vs Namibia Toss Prediction

I can’t talk about Pakistan vs Namibia toss winner statistics because, as stated, there aren’t any! They’ve never played each other. But Pakistan have won two tosses out of three so far and I’ll trust them to win this one.

Pakistan vs Namibia Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Pakistan to win @ 1.08 with Pure Win

If I’m going to highlight the winners, it’s only fair that I highlight the losers, as well!

I thought there was an outside chance of an upset when Namibia played Afghanistan on Sunday.

I figured that Namibia being able to chase and set anything under 160 could play into their hands and that one big innings from a David Wiese or Gerard Erasmus could get them home.

But I was very much wrong. Afghanistan posted exactly 160 and there was no real moment during the chase when Namibia looked like getting anywhere near that total.

So the conclusion has to be that Namibia can’t compete with the best sides at this World Cup. And if Afghanistan beat them so easily, Pakistan may beat them even more comprehensively.

So it’s simply not worth trying to take the gamble on Namibia. And Pakistan, albeit at a very short price, it is then.

Today’s Pakistan vs Namibia Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Mohammad Rizwan to be top match batsman @ 5.0 with Betway

Mohammad Rizwan, who I tipped at odds of 23.0 to be the T20 WC top batsman, is going just fine.

He has 120 runs to his name from three innings after scores of 79 not out against India, 33 against New Zealand and a somewhat disappointing 8 against Afghanistan.

You can back him at just 3.0 to be Pakistan’s top batsman, with ‘rival’ and captain Babar Azam at just 2.62.

But if you’re going to go with Rizwan, you might as well go with him being top match batsman, rather than top scoring for Pakistan.

Wiese aside, I can’t see anyone from Namibia getting to more than 30 just because they don’t have the skills to face a barrage of top-class Pakistani bowling.

If Pakistan bat first, Azam aor Rizwan can go on to get a big score and if they chase about 12- or so, I wouldn’t be surprised if the two of them chase that without losing a wicket.

Preference goes to Rizwan at the slightly bigger odds of 5.0.

Pakistan vs Namibia fun statistics

Let’s round things off with some quick stats ahead of the game.

  • Asif Ali has hit seven sixes in just 19 balls he’s faced at this World Cup.
  • Babar Azam has two fifties in three matches.
  • Spin twins Imad Wasim and Shahd Khan both have economy rates under 6 for the tournament.
  • But Hasan Ali has been extremely expensive, going at 9.81 an over.
