Rajasthan Team News

Big, big news. All-rounder Ben Stokes joins fellow Englishman Jofra Archer in being ruled out of the whole of the IPL.

Stokes broke a finger while he was fielding on Monday but went on to bat anyway, being dismissed for a three-ball duck, before knowing the extent of his injury.

It’s the last thing Rajasthan Royals need. After a last-place finish last season, the loss of Archer before the tournament started and a final-ball defeat against Punjab on Monday, things are going from bad to worse.

One of Liam Livingstone or David Miller are expected to come in with Livingstone likely to open.

Likely XI: Vohra, Livingstone, Samson, Buttler, Dube, Parag, Tewatia, Morris, Gopal, Sakariya, Rahman.

Delhi Team News

After an impressive win against CSK first up, the Delhi Capitals may have been tempted to stick with the same side.

But contrasting news regarding their two South African fast bowlers will somewhat force their hand. Kagiso Rabada is free to play after returning a negative Covid Test and probably will, almost certainly at the expense of Tom Curran.

But somehow his teammate Anrich Nortje didn’t get his test result back in time so he’ll have to sit this one out. That means Shimron Hetmyer is likely to play again.

Marcus Stioinis and Chris Woakes should retain their places in the team as the other two overseas players.

Likely XI: Shaw, Dhawan, Rahane, Pant, Stoinis, Hetmyer, Woakes, Patel, Ashwin, Mishra, Rabada.

Venue & conditions

Mumbai is a high-scoring venue, as we know. This is where Delhi chased a decent 189 against CSK with ease and where the Royals lost in a run-fest to Punjab on Monday.

So we can conclude that a score of at least 190 is very easily reachable first up. But we can also conclude that chasing a big score is very manageable. Had the Royals not started so poorly against Punjab and they could well have won the game.

This is a six-hitting ground so keep an eye on those sixes markets because there could be quite a few of them.

RR vs DC Head-to-Head

These two are locked at 11-11 in the head-to-head record. However, it’s been all Delhi over the past two seasons with DC winning all of the last four.

Interestingly, it was the Royals winning six in a row between 2013 and 2015 but as we said, the Capitals have dominated proceedings of late.

RR vs DC Head-to-Head

Toss Winner

According to our Rajasthan vs Delhi statistics, DC have won just shy of 60% of the tosses between these two over the years.  Rishabh Pant won it the other day against CSK, as did Samson for the Royals against the Punjab Kings. So in this regard, they’re both fresh from toss wins.

But let’s trust the long-term stats and go with DC.

Toss Winner stats for RR vs DC

TEAMS TOSS WIN %
Rajasthan 9 40.91%
Delhi 13 59.09%

Rajasthan vs Delhi Winner Prediction

Recommended bet: Back Delhi to win @ 1.62 with Casumo

Our Rajasthan vs Delhi predictions have the Capitals as the best bet to win.

Royals have now lost two of their best players and that’s too much of a blow to a side who weren’t that great to start with.

Maybe Livingstone is better suited to opening than Stokes is but then again, Stokes has that X-Factor presence in all three disciplines that Livingstone doesn’t.

The Royals’ best chance is to chase and somehow hope someone gets a good 80 or 90 in a big chase. But those are big ‘ifs’ and DC are clearly the better all-round side.

Highest Individual Score: Over 66.5

Recommended Bet: Back Over 66.5 Highest Individual Score @ 1.8 with 10CRIC

In two matches played here in Mumbai, we’ve had some very decent individual scores. DC’s Shaw got to 72 and team-mate Dhawan hit 85 the other day. Then there was 91 from the bat of KL Rahul and that brilliant 119 from Sanju Samson that somehow wasn’t enough to get the Royals over the line.

On such a good wicket and with so much batting talent on show, we should have at least one batsman scoring over 66.5 runs.

Today’s RR vs DC Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Rishabh Pant to be DC Top Batsman @ 5.0 with 10CRIC

Dhawan and Shaw did the hard work for DC the other day in getting their team over the line against CSK.

But Shaw had been out of form for a while prior to that and Dhawan can be a bit flaky- brilliant one day, too reckless the next.

It was interesting to note that the other day Rishabh Pant batted at number three (rather than his unusual position at four) and he scored an unbeaten 15 off 12. He’s the one who’s been in outstanding form for a year in all formats and he’s the one we’re taking a punt on at a decent price.

Rajasthan vs Delhi Fun Statistics

  • The Royals will badly miss Jofra Archer in this game: he took six wickets against them last year across two matches.
  • Samson’s 119 the other day was his third IPL century and his highest-ever score in 108 IPL matches.
  • Jos Buller has a brilliant strike rate of exactly 150 in 59 IPL matches.
  • DC’s Kagiso Rabada has 61 wickets in 35 matches, taking a wicket every 18 balls in the IPL.
  • Delhi man Ravi Ashwin will be playing his 156th match in the IPL.
