Rajasthan Team News
Big, big news. All-rounder Ben Stokes joins fellow Englishman Jofra Archer in being ruled out of the whole of the IPL.
Stokes broke a finger while he was fielding on Monday but went on to bat anyway, being dismissed for a three-ball duck, before knowing the extent of his injury.
It’s the last thing Rajasthan Royals need. After a last-place finish last season, the loss of Archer before the tournament started and a final-ball defeat against Punjab on Monday, things are going from bad to worse.
One of Liam Livingstone or David Miller are expected to come in with Livingstone likely to open.
Likely XI: Vohra, Livingstone, Samson, Buttler, Dube, Parag, Tewatia, Morris, Gopal, Sakariya, Rahman.
Delhi Team News
After an impressive win against CSK first up, the Delhi Capitals may have been tempted to stick with the same side.
But contrasting news regarding their two South African fast bowlers will somewhat force their hand. Kagiso Rabada is free to play after returning a negative Covid Test and probably will, almost certainly at the expense of Tom Curran.
But somehow his teammate Anrich Nortje didn’t get his test result back in time so he’ll have to sit this one out. That means Shimron Hetmyer is likely to play again.
Marcus Stioinis and Chris Woakes should retain their places in the team as the other two overseas players.
Likely XI: Shaw, Dhawan, Rahane, Pant, Stoinis, Hetmyer, Woakes, Patel, Ashwin, Mishra, Rabada.
Venue & conditions
Mumbai is a high-scoring venue, as we know. This is where Delhi chased a decent 189 against CSK with ease and where the Royals lost in a run-fest to Punjab on Monday.
So we can conclude that a score of at least 190 is very easily reachable first up. But we can also conclude that chasing a big score is very manageable. Had the Royals not started so poorly against Punjab and they could well have won the game.
This is a six-hitting ground so keep an eye on those sixes markets because there could be quite a few of them.
RR vs DC Head-to-Head
These two are locked at 11-11 in the head-to-head record. However, it’s been all Delhi over the past two seasons with DC winning all of the last four.
Interestingly, it was the Royals winning six in a row between 2013 and 2015 but as we said, the Capitals have dominated proceedings of late.
According to our Rajasthan vs Delhi statistics, DC have won just shy of 60% of the tosses between these two over the years. Rishabh Pant won it the other day against CSK, as did Samson for the Royals against the Punjab Kings. So in this regard, they’re both fresh from toss wins.
But let’s trust the long-term stats and go with DC.
