In a campaign where last season’s successful sides fail to recreate the magic of yesteryear, the Delhi Capitals are holding up their end of the bargain! They cannot find the imperious form that saw them top the IPL 21 regular season table, with just two wins from four so far.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are having a better time of it with three wins from five, but this feels like a critical clash in the context of the season. I will go into why I feel there is so much riding on this game and more in my DC vs RCB betting tips, which you can find below. I also pour through the live cricket satta rates to uncover the bigger odds – check out my hot bet for better returns.

The IPL betting will begin from 7.30 pm (IST) on Saturday 16th April at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

DC vs RCB Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back the Royal Challengers Bangalore to win @ 1.91 with Pure Win

The Royal Challengers Bangalore were responsible for two of the four defeats the Delhi Capitals suffered last year – and I am backing them to keep their winning run going here.

On paper, I feel they have the strongest team in the IPL – the trinity of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell have dominated the Twenty20 scene for years and form a formidable batting unit at the top of the order.

They suffered a confidence-denting loss to the struggling Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, but I think they can bounce back here.

The Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, have made a stuttering start to proceedings. They will hope their 44-run win over the Kolkata Knight Riders will act as a catalyst to their campaign, but I feel like their underlying form is a concern. They lost to both newcomers – the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants – in the previous two games, struggling to keep up with the run rate on both occasions.

A win for either side will feel like a significant step forward to the playoffs – particularly given the dire form of the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

That’s why I’m sticking with the Royal Challengers Bangalore to be the match winner in my DC vs RCB betting tips – I will be placing my bet with Pure Win. Read our Pure Win review to find out why!

DC vs RCB Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Both teams to score 60+ runs in the first six overs @ 8.0 with Betway

Every now and then I like to check out Betway’s pre-built match specials. They are one of the only Indian betting sites to expand its pre-match cricket betting opportunities to include unique markets. You can find out more by reading our Betway review.

The DC vs RCB betting opportunity that stands out is both teams to get their innings off to a flyer. In their victory over the KKR, the DC had hit 60 runs after just 5.2 overs. Meanwhile, the RCB have been threatening to spark into life at the top of the innings for a while now.

It’s a bit of a wild bet – but at 8.0, it’s worth a small wager!

DC Recent Form

Mixed – but if they can harvest momentum from their highly impressive win over the in-form KKR, then the Delhi Capitals will prove a big problem for the RCB and my match winner bet.

Privthi Shaw and David Warner were in sparkling form at the top of the order – racing to a 93-run opening partnership from just 8.4 overs to set up a 215 target.

Rishabh Pant was showing signs of what we have come to expect from the Indian wicket-keeper, with a brisk 27 runs from 14 balls, before Shardul Thakur stole the show at the end of the innings – hitting 29 runs from just 11 balls!

My concerns surrounding the DC emanates from their lack of consistency. Failure to land a glove on newcomers Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants remains fresh in the mind.

Team News

Ricky Ponting, head coach of the DC, had some bad news for franchise followers surrounding his compatriot.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh looks set to miss the next three or four matches through injury. He suffered his ailment in Australia’s bilateral series against Pakistan, and recovery is taking longer than expected.

There are no other injuries to note.

Player to Watch: David Warner

The Aussie opener is on a mission to prove a few people wrong this season, following his release from the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

If his rapid 61 from 45 balls against the KKR wasn’t enough to jog the memory of his undoubted qualities, perhaps this will – he is the fastest player in IPL history to score 5,500 runs and the only foreign player to reach the landmark.

I will back him to top score for the Delhi Capitals at 3.5.

DC’s Likely XI

David Warner, Privthi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Andre Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman

RCB Recent Form

The defeat to the Chennai Super Kings was surprising because of the respective form of both teams – but I’m giving them a pass due to the sensational showing from their victors.

I want to see the Royal Challengers Bangalore bat first – they have chased targets in their last four games, but set 205 runs in the first match against the Punjab Kings, despite eventually losing.

I feel if they were to bat first, they have room to stretch their legs at the top of the order. We may also see the best of Glenn Maxwell – he’s only making fleeting appearances with thew blade of late due to match situations.

Team News

Josh Hazlewood made his long-awaited season bow for the RCB on Tuesday and did well – taking 1/33 from four overs. The Aussie had previously been unavailable due to contractual obligations with his nation and Covid-19 isolation protocols.

There were no new RCB injuries to report in the aftermath of Tuesday.

Player to Watch: Dinesh Khartik

The debate continues to rage around Karthik and his position in the batting line-up for the RCB. Yet again, the wicket-keeper impressed for his franchise with the bat, smashing 34 from just 14 balls – including three 6s and two 4s.

It follows his match-winning knock of 44* from 23 balls against the Rajasthan Royals back on Tuesday 5th April.

He’s piling pressure on team management to promote him up the order – and in his current form, it’s easy to see why coming in at number seven feels too low.

I am going to have a small bet on him to finish top scorer for the RCB on the premise he is elevated up the order. You can back him at 8.0 with 10CRIC.

RCB’s Likely XI

Faf du Plessis (c), Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Sherfane Rutherford, David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Josh Hazlewood.

Venue & conditions

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai hosts its sixth match of the campaign. The last four games at this venue has been won by the team batting second, while no team is yet to post a first innings score of more than 169.

The weather is set to be scorching hot all day on Saturday, with humidity levels reaching 77% in the evening.

Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Head-to-Head

The DC vs RCB head to head records strongly side with the latter – the RCB nearly have a 2-to-1 advantage since the IPL began.

The RCB are also attempting their third straight win over the Capitals. You can find the full breakdown below:

Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Toss Prediction

The DC vs RCB toss winner stats are more in favour of the RCB as their head to head win record.

The RCB have won their last four coin-flips on the trot, and as a believer of momentum in cricket, I will be backing them to call correctly again.
