Delhi Team News

Delhi made it four wins from five on Sunday after a Super Over victory secured over SRH.

In a fluctuating match, SRH managed just two off the last two balls to enforce a Super Over, which Delhi won off the last ball when they were chasing just seven. .

In a highly entertaining match, Delhi were in control for much of it after a good start with the bat and after the early dismissal of David Warner when they bowled. But they couldn’t dismiss Kane Williamson, who almost got Hyderabad over the line.

Shimron Hetmyer may lose his place with Sam Billings waiting in the wings, though Steve Smith is yet to play an important knock, either. Chris Woakes can come in and give the side more balance.

But Ravi Ashwin definitely misses this match and may miss a few more after opting to take time out from the IPL.

Likely XI: Shaw, Dhawan, Smith, Pant, Stoinis, Rahane, Woakes, Patel, Mishra, Rabada, Sharma.

Bangalore Team News

A brilliant all-round performance from Ravi Jadeja stopped RCB in their tracks, handing them their first defeat of the season.

Virat Kohli continues to struggle and may reconsider whether he isn’t better off batting at three and letting Finn Allen, a more natural opener, bat at the top instead of him.

That would mean Dan Christian missing out after the veteran failed to impress so far with either bat or ball.

Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa have flown home and won’t be playing again in this year’s IPL. But Zampa hadn’t played at all and Richardson only played once so it won’t make a huge difference to their plans.

But if they feel they need another overseas fast bowler, they can play Daniel Sams instead of Christian.

Likely XI: Allen, Padikkal, Kohli, Maxwell, de Villiers, Sundar, Jamieson, Patel, Saini, Chahal, Siraj.

Venue & conditions

We move to Ahmedabad, a ground that hasn’t seen much IPL action over the years. What we do know however is that in six T20Is played here, the average first innings score was 174, which is pretty high.

One would think that the skipper winning the toss would rather play it safe by batting second and knowing what is needed.

DC v RCB Head-to-Head

RCB are 14-10 ahead on the head to head. But it’s been all Delhi recently. The Capitals won each of the last four matches between the two. Last season their two wins were particularly comfortable: by 59 runs and six wickets.

Toss Winner

The toss record between the two is almost the same as the head-to-head in terms of wins. It’s RCB leading the way once again. It was one win-a-piece last season but we still have to side with RCB here based on their superior record.

Delhi vs Bangalore Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back DC to win @ 1.9 with Casumo

RCB probably haven’t been as good as their results suggest and they have a serious issue with Kohli’s form. There’s also a suggestion they can be expensive in the death overs with the ball, as was the case against Ravi Jadeja and CSK on Sunday. It’s also not ideal that key spinner Yuzvendra Chahal doesn’t look to be at his best.

DC have their own issues and one of them is that neither Smith nor Hetmyer are bringing the X-Factor they were meant to.

But even though they’ll be missing Ashwin, they look a better bowling unit and that could make all the difference here. They’ve also won all of the last four between them so that confidence could go a long way.

RCB Top Bowler: Harshal Patel

Recommended Bet: Harshal Patel Top RCB Bowler @  4.00 with 10CRIC

Harshal Patel is outbolwing his team-mates by some distance right now.

He has 15 wickets, making him not only the top RCB bowler but also the top IPL bowler. He’s taken 5, 2, 2, 3 and 3 wickets in his five games to date and is clearly in the form of his life.

Yet somehow Yuzvendra Chahal is shorter than him in the betting and that can’t be right so we have to go with Patel to do the business once again.

Today’s DC v RCB Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Devdutt Padikkal to be RCB Top Batsman  @ 4.5 with 10CRIC

Kohli is going through a rare bad patch while AB de Villiers has hardly had a chance to impress with the top order often playing well enough that he hasn’t been needed.

Maxwell has been the form man but had a rare failure on Sunday against CSK, as did most RCB batsmen for that matter.

It all means that the best bet here is the reliable Devdutt Padikkal. He started slowly but in scoring 101 not out and 34, he top scored for RCB in each of their last two. He could make it three. Let’s hope so.

Delhi vs Bangalore Fun Statistics

  • Padikkal has an excellent record of five fifties and a century in just 19 IPL games.
  • Glenn Maxwell is just one six away from reaching 100 in the IPL.
  • Dan Christian has never scored a fifty in 43 IPL matches.
  • Shikhar Dhawan has already taken eight catches this year; that’s three more than he managed in the whole of last season.
