Sri Lanka vs India Betting Odds

Up next are our free cricket betting tips for what should end in a 3-0 whitewash in favour of the Indians.

India have effectively won the series already with that thrilling 3-wicket victory in the second ODI, thanks to Deepak Chahar’s heroics.

Rahul Dravid may now look at bringing in some other players for the final one-day international whereas Sri Lanka will fight for a consolation win. In either case, India will start as the heavy favourites.

Sri Lanka v India 3rd ODI Predictions, Preview, and Betting Tips - Team News and Form

Sri Lanka Team News

Sri Lanka’ performance in the second ODI was not all that bad. Having won the toss and electing to bat, they did manage to put a subpar total of 275-9.

While Fernando, Asalanka, and Karunaratne were among the team’s top batters, a lack of consistency from others in the order is still a sign of concern for Mickey Arthur’s men.

When they came to defend the target, Wanindu Hasaranga’s early wickets of Prithvi Shaw and in-form Shikhar Dhawan gave the hosts a fighting chance. A couple more wickets in the first half of the innings landed India at 116-5 in 18 overs, effectively giving Sri Lanka solid control.

But this young, fresh team was still no match for India’s incredible latent batting talent in the middle and low order – despite the best efforts from Hasaranga and others. There were also instances where Sri Lanka were also sloppy in fielding, leaving more for the boys to work on.

We expect the same squad from the previous ODI here.

Sri Lanka Likely XI

Avishka Fernando, Minod Bhanuka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Isuru Udana, Dushmantha Chameera

Sri Lanka vs India Betting Tips Predictions - 3rd ODI Team News and Player Form

India Team News

It seems that India’s B Team has also got a Plan B to get the job done in case others fail. On a pitch that is proving to be favourable for batting, Sri Lanka posted a competitive total for their Indian neighbours to chase. With the ball, Chahal and Kumar took three wickets each while Chahar got two under his belt.

Following the early wickets of Shaw (13 off 11), Dhawan (29 off 38), and Ishan Kishan (1 off 4) in India’s title chase, the visitors soon found themselves in a precarious position.

While Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav added some fight in the middle order, with the latter scoring a half-century, their subsequent wickets still kept the pressure on India.

That’s when Chahar, with some help from Krunal Pandya and Kumar, guided India home to yet another ODI series win against Sri Lanka. Staying on until the end, Chahar’s 69 off 82 was instrumental in the final few overs of the match to seal the win with 277-7.

For the upcoming ODI, we may see a few new faces like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, and others get some international playing time.

India’s Likely XI

Shikhar Dhawan, Devdutt Padikkal, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal

Venue & conditions

The last two totals posted by the team batting first – Sri Lanka – has only increased with every ODI played in Colombo. It will be interesting to see how Indian batsmen fare if given a chance to bat first.

A high total of 270-300 and upwards continues to be the trend here although, the pitch has shown some love for bowlers too.

This is yet another day-night match and the playing conditions are expected to be met with rain and thunderstorms. Brace for rain interruptions, delayed overs, and possibly, the use of the D/L rule depending on how the day goes.

Sri Lanka vs India Head-to-Head

The upcoming match will be their 162nd meeting in the one-day international format. India, as expected, lead 93-56 after the win on Tuesday, with 11 matches ending in a stalemate.

Sri Lanka vs India Toss Prediction

One thing that’s working for Sri Lanka at the moment is their ability to win the toss. They have won so far in the first two one-day matches and may very well do so again.

But just to keep things interesting, let’s back India to win the toss in this one.

Sri Lanka vs India Toss Stats for the third ODI 2021

India 79 49.69%
Sri Lanka 82 50.31%

Sri Lanka vs India Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back India to win @ 1.22 with Purewin

Sri Lanka is a team that hasn’t seen much luck in the ODI this entire year and following the game on Tuesday, their morale will have suffered more.

We can expect the hosts to give it their all once again but India’s superiority in talent, form, and experience, continues to be their downfall. Of course, should India choose to rest its key performers, Sri Lanka can try to take advantage of the change in the roster and disrupt the flow.

But even then, like for like, India’s playing XI will come out on the top. Expect another entertaining match of cricket, one that should end in a win for India.

India Total Fours Over 27.5

Recommended Bet: Back India to hit over 27.5 fours @ 1.90 with Betway

All right, it may be difficult to hit the sixes on the track in Colombo but when it comes to fours, there seem to be no problems at all.

In their chase of 275 runs in the second ODI, Indian batsmen hit 30 fours while in the preceding match, they had struck 29. Given this kind of batting form, we can safely bet on the Men in Blue to score at least 28 fours in the final ODI too.

Today’s Sri Lanka vs India Hot Bet

Recommended bet: Back Hasaranga to be Sri Lanka Top Bowler @ 3.60 with 10CRIC

Hasaranga was the top bowler in the last ODI with three wickets and has certainly got the goods to repeat that feat again.

In Sri Lanka’s current bowling line-up, he still remains one of the most promising bowlers with a fair bit of experience under his belt. While consistency has not been among his strong suit, his momentum from Tuesday should reflect in Friday’s match too.

Sri Lanka vs India fun statistics

  • Sri Lanka have lost nine of their 10 completed ODIs in 2021
  • India won their ninth successive bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka
  • There have been only two instances in the past where India managed to win the match despite being five down and needing 160 or more to win – once against Zimbabwe in 2005 and the other time against England in 2002
