Bangladesh fans will be on cloud nine after watching their national team beat Australia in yet another low-scoring thriller in the second T20I match.

Unlike yesterday, Australia chose to bat first this time after winning the toss but that didn’t do much for them. Their batting problems continued as the openers Josh Philippe and Alex Carey departed quite early once again.

In an eerie deja vu, Mitchell Marsh scored 45 runs before heading back to the pavilion – same as the evening before. Moises Henriques added another 30 runs before succumbing to Shakib Al Hasan. Thereafter, it was just a matter of time as Aussies struggled to put a respectable score.

Australia ended the innings at 121-7 with Mustafizur Rahman picking three wickets while Shoriful Islam got two.

When Bangladesh came to bat, they were rattled quite early as Josh Hazelwood and Mitchell Starc clean bowled the home team’s openers.

There was still some hope for Australia as they managed to reduce the hosts to 67-5 in 11.2 overs. But then, a solid fight from Afif Hossain (37 off 31) and Nurul Hasan (22 off 21) helped Bangladesh reach the finish line.

Bangladesh ended their inning at 123-5 and won the match by five wickets with eight balls to spare – certainly a solid performance to put in World Cup year.

With this performance, they now lead Australia 2-0 in the five-match series. The third T20 international will be played on Friday, at 5:30 pm IST.
