Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings betting predictions

As part of today’s cricket match prediction tips, you will find the latest RCB vs CSK betting tips and predictions here.

Even though just two points separate these two IPL sides, they have started the UAE leg on dramatically contrasting notes. Chennai Super Kings clinched a thrilling victory in the mid-season opener while Royal Challengers Bangalore incurred one of their heaviest defeats in the tournament’s history.

Chennai Super Kings will start as the favourites here but I’m going to back the underdogs here and support a win for RCB.

Bangalore Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore had a nightmare resumption to their IPL 2021 season as they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 wickets.

It was an absolutely rusty performance by Virat Kohli & Co. who, batting first, failed to build a proper inning. The boys managed to post just 92 runs on the board, thanks to some contributions from the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and Srikar Bharat.

Kohli and Glen Maxwell left in single digits; newcomer Wanindu Hasaranga and AB de Villiers got out for a duck on the very first delivery he faced in the IPL.

Of course, defending less than 100 runs in the T20 format is a difficult task for any side, let alone RCB. KKR made easy work of it and won the match comfortably.

After enjoying a decent start to their Indian Premier League campaign, the Challengers are starting to fumble. They have lost three of their last four matches now and any more results like these and they will be in serious trouble.

That said, Royal Challengers Bangalore have plenty of T20 superstars on paper, making them a side that is not to be underestimated.

Bangalore Likely XI

Padikkal, Kohli, Maxwell, de Villiers, Ahmed, Christian, Jamieson, Patel, Saini, Siraj, Chahal

Chennai Team News

Chennai Super Kings are in second place in the table with six wins from eight games.

In the tournament opener in Dubai, they defeated Mumbai Indians by 20 runs despite being at 7-3 themselves in the first inning. That inning saw three players depart for 0 – Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, and Ambati Rayudu, while Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni got out in single digits.

Thanks to the heroics of Ruturaj Gaikwad (88 off 58) and brief cameos by Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja in the end, CSK reached a sub-par total of 156 runs. With the ball, Bravo and Deepak Chahar saw to it that the defending champions don’t reach the target. Ali’s spell was also instrumental in preventing Mumbai from getting runs on the board.

As one of the most prolific captains in Indian cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni brings a lot of experience to the team. His tactical decisions – be it to set the field or leveraging the bowlers – made a huge difference in that win against the Mumbai Indians.

With plenty of depth in his team and some in-form players like Bravo, Gaikwad, and Jadeja, they will fancy their chances of keeping up that momentum.

Chennai Likely XI

Gaikwad, du Plessis, Ali, Raina, Rayudu, Dhoni, Bravo, Curran, Jadeja, Chahar, Thakur

Venue & conditions

We are at Sharjah for this one where the runs are easy to come by, thanks to the relatively small ground.

Case in point, the 2020 IPL saw a fair number of games here where on many occasions, teams batting first had a field day. There were also instances when a target upwards of 170 runs wasn’t enough to defend – Bangalore and Chennai both tasted defeat in this regard respectively to Punjab and Delhi.

However, let’s remember that this is the first match in Sharjah this season so we may very well see a low-scoring game as well.

But as things stand, an entertaining game is on the cards with dew likely to play a part in the second inning.

RCB vs CSK Head-to-Head

Chennai Super Kings hold an astounding lead over Royal Challengers Bangalore as they lead 18-9.

CSK have also won three of their last five meetings, including the one from the reverse leg of this fixture in India. In that game in Mumbai, Chennai batted first and posted a target of 192 runs; Bangalore responded with 122-9.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings Toss Prediction

Chennai also lead the way when it comes to the toss, leading precisely by 18-9. So while our winner prediction for the RCB – CSK game is backing Bangalore, let’s go with Dhoni to win the toss.

Recommended Bet: Back Bangalore to win @2.04 with Pure Win

On paper, some may argue that Kohli’s RCB have a slightly stronger, seasoned batting lineup than Chennai Super Kings’. After all, we all have seen time and again what can happen when AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are clicking and firing on all cylinders.

Add to this equation Devdutt Padikkal and the Australian T20 specialist Glenn Maxwell, the picture becomes a tad bit clearer.

Then, there is also the matter this IPL is Kohli’s last hurrah as the RCB captain and he would like to add the elusive crown to his resume.

Of course, CSK are not to be undermined here – they have one of the best captains in the sport leading them, followed by the presence of big hitters like Gaikwad, Bravo, Raina, and Jadeja. They have win in their sails and are cruising with momentum.

Picking a winner between the two may be a bit conflicting for some but for me, Bangalore has always held a special spot.

Recommended Bet: Back Over 17.5  Sixes in the Match @1.92 with 10CRIC

Chennai Super Kings are brilliant when it comes to finding boundaries and overall, so are Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Seeing that the two heavyweights are clashing at a venue that is known for short boundaries, backing an ‘over’ boundaries market – fours or sixes – is not a bad bet to make.

Today’s RCB vs CSK Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: AB de Villiers to be RCB Top Batsman @4.70  with 10CRIC

Last season in Sharjah, AB de Villiers smashed 73 runs in 33 deliveries against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Granted that he was rusty in the first match this week but by now, he may be better acclimatised to the conditions and may find his way back to his former self. The veteran Protean batsman is also available at a decent price.

  • MS Dhoni comes in second with 737 runs
