Why is this a good bet?

With AB De Villiers and Faf du Plessis set to start in the game, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that it will be a high-scoring match.

But between the two with regards to the top batsman, we can make a fair assessment and go with the De Villiers for RCB, simply because of his sheer experience and talent in this format of the game.

Royal Challengers Bangalore to win: Why is this a good bet?

The odds are quite similar and at least on paper, there isn’t a lot that separates the two sides. Bangalore are just one defeat away from finding themselves in the same boat as their neighbours.

That said, we would still favour Bangalore here, given their superior momentum in the league so far. It is also worth noting that unlike the Chennai Super Kings, they are playing on a turf (Dubai International Cricket Stadium) that they are familiar with. They have a ‘home advantage’ of sorts that has allowed them to understand the conditions of the pitch quite well by now.

Now, it is up to them to not squander it and use it to their benefit.

Kohli to be score a half century: Why is this a good bet?

After a bleak start to his innings in the IPL, the Indian ace has stepped up quite nicely. With 43 runs against Delhi and 72 against the Rajasthan Royals, it is quite likely that he will move on to deliver a similar result here as well.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Two steps forward, one step backward – this sentence neatly captures the form of the Bengaluru boys in this years’ Indian Premier League.

Five games in, they have won three so far and lost two. Even though this can be deemed as a good start by their standards, these types of troubles can quickly run them down to the bottom of the table.

Currently sitting at the 4th place in the table, their most recent encounter was against Delhi Capitals – a match that ended in a 59-run defeat for Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was one of those games where the in-form players like Padikkal and AB de Villiers got out early, leaving Virat Kohli to put up some resistance.

Kohli’s gamble to bring in Moeen Ali instead of Adam Zampa didn’t pay well either as the England all-rounder proved to be rather costly in bowling.

Once again, the boys have their work cut out in the bowling department. Washington Sundar and Chahal have turned out to be among the most economical bowlers in the team. Their efforts will need to be complemented by others to ensure that Chennai are restricted to a small score only.

Possible XI: Padikkal, Finch, Kohli, de Villiers, Sundar, Chahal, Zampa, Steyn, Saini, Udana

Chennai Super Kings

Looking at the way things have panned out for Chennai Super Kings so far, it is hard to believe that these lads are part of a legacy that won the IPL trophy thrice since the inception.

Six matches in, they have already lost four games and another defeat could most certainly make things really precious for them. In other words, this is a must win game for MS Dhoni and co if they want to keep their title hopes alive properly.

After a shoddy start and 3 consecutive losses, the lads in yellow bounced back in style against the once-formidable Kings XI Punjab. Chasing a target of 179 runs, Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis took the team to a resounding 10-wicket victory. Each of the two overseas player scored 80+ runs in a magnificent innings.

Next match, however, they were back to the same routine of losses as they succumbed to Kolkata Knight Riders by just 10 runs. Watson scored a brave half-century but it was in vain.

Looking back at their run so far in the IPL, their losses have come when they were batting second. More than that, they have lost 3 of those 4 games by a margin of less than 20 runs. Perhaps, batting first can help them break that jinx.

Possible XI: Watson, du Plessis, Rayudu, Dhoni, Jadeja, Bravo, Curran, Chawla, Thakur, Chahar, Jadhav
