PBKS vs DC Betting Odds

For my cricket betting tips on this game, I’m going with DC to win it.

I think Delhi look the slightly better-balanced side thanks to a superior bowling unit and that could make all the difference on the day in what is a must-win game for both sides.

I’ll also have my usual toss winner pick and the PBKS vs DC betting odds for my Hot Bet: a third tip at bigger odds than usual.

I’m going with Punjab’s big-name overseas bowler to keep up his outstanding form with the ball.

Given he’s won three out of the last five PBKS top bowler markets and tied another, he’s an easy choice, but a good one.

PBKS vs DC Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back DC to win @ 1.9 with Betway

The bookies make it a choice affair, a 50/50 game, call it what you like.

You can see why. Their head-to-head record is almost identical and they’re tied on the same points in the table.

But DC look the better all-round side.

They suffered a bit with injuries and illness (Mitch Marsh had Covid at one stage) and also with the loss of form of Rishabh Pant with the bat, such a huge player for them.

But they have everyone available now and though both sides have very strong batting line-ups, I think DC have better bowling, with more options and more variety.

So that makes our minds up for us.

And here’s our Betway review, with all the info you need to know about a highly recommended betting site who offer generous odds, good bonuses and a top-class live betting product.

Plus of course, all the latest PBKS vs DC betting markets and odds.

PBKS vs DC Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Kagiso Rabada to be PBKS Top Bowler @ 3.44 with 10CRIC

If you had to pick one fast bowler to play for you, whether IPL or any other format, then Kagiso Rabada (or KG) would surely be very close to the top of the list.

He’s quick, he’s accurate, he has the variations, the fitness and the winning mentality. Not much more you could ask for!

And after a slightly slow start, he’s just got better and better this tournament.

He’s now up to third on the wicket-takers list with 21, just two off Y Chahal and Hasaranga de Silva.

He also played one game less than them because he arrived to the IPL late. If they make the Playoffs in the end, it would be no surprise if he actually won it.

In his last five games, these are the number of wickets he took: 2, 4, 4, 1 and 3. He was PBKS top bowler in three of those and in the one where he took two wickets, he tied.

So that’s 3.5 wins out of 5 and at odds of 3.44, it’s worth going with him again.

Punjab Kings’ Recent Form

A big win on Friday against RCB means Punjab are still in it. Just.

They’re into sixth, on 12 points and will probably need to win their remaining two matches in order to be in with a chance of making the Playoffs.

Even then it might not be enough, but at least they have plenty to play for.

The important thing about that win (in addition to the points, of course) was that they also improved on their net run rate, thanks to winning the game by 54 runs.

They got off to the best possible start as a result of Jonny Bairstow’s quickfire 66 off 29 and once he got out, compatriot Liam Livingstone took over with a fine 70 off 42 of his own.

With the ball, it was a real team effort. They only used five bowlers and all of them took at least one wicket, with Kagiso Rabada taking 3/21 in the end.

Where were these sorts of performances earlier on in the tournament?

Team News

They took their time to finally decide on a policy of three overseas batsmen (Bairstow, Livingstone, Rajapaksa) and one overseas bowler (Rabada) but that looks the way to go for them.

Rishi Dhawan has been a good addition to the side after coming in halfway through.

He doesn’t get that many wickets but is always very economical and can occasionally contribute with some runs, as well.

Player to Watch: Mayank Agarwal

If ever you wanted an example of a selfless player, then look no further than Mayank Agarwal.

He’s always been an opener in T20 cricket but just couldn’t get any runs at the top of the innings in the first few matches.

Rather than persisting and realising that it’s the most important position to bat in when playing T20, he demoted himself down the order and let the likes of Bairstow bat as openers instead of him.

You have to question whether if someone like Virat Kohli had been in that position as skipper, they would have done the same.

He’s clearly put the team ahead of him and that’s always good to see.

That said, if they’re to win their next two games they’ll probably need a decent innings from him sooner or later.

It’s 4.75 with Betway that he top scores for them here. But given he really is struggling a bit and batting lower down the order, there are better options than him.

Such as the in-form Bairstow (4.0) and Livingstone (5.0) who both played beautifully against RCB.

Punjab Kings’ Likely XI

Bairstow, Dhawan, Rajapaksa, Livingstone, Agarwal, Sharma, Brar, Rishi Dhawan, Chahar, Rabada, Singh.

Delhi Capitals’ Recent Form

Just like Punjab, Delhi won their most recent match to give themselves a chance of still making the Playoffs.

Like Punjab, they’ll probably need to win both their matches to go through but the advantage they have over PBKS is that they have a much better net run rate.

Realistically, the loser of this game is out, while the winner will then have an all-or-nothing match as their fourteenth, will look to win it and will be aware of net run rate going into it.

Last time out they were far too good for Rajasthan.

They restricted the Royals to what was about a par score and chased it easily thanks to a super knock from Mitchell Marsh (89) though David Warner’s unbeaten 52 was also extremely important.

Anrich Nortje was a bit expensive in going for 39 runs but he did take two important wickets and they look better for having him in the side.

Team News

After such a convincing win in the last game, it would seem silly to expect any changes in the Delhi team.

Having played some matches with just two overseas players earlier in the tournament, they’ve now decided that Marsh, Warner, Powell and Nortje are the four to go with and that looks the correct decision.

Player to Watch: Mitch Marsh

In many ways Marsh (or the Big Bison as they call him in Australia) is your ideal T20 player.

He bats at three or four, he bowls steady overs of medium pace and has a rocket of an arm in the field.

But there have always been two problems with him: fitness issues (injuries and the fact he’s sometimes been overweight) and inconsistency.

But when he’s fit and in-form, he’s right up there with the very best.

The last match was a good example of that, taking two wickets with the ball and then coming in and executing an excellent chase with the bat.

If he’d had more games like that in the tournament, DC would surely have been in a much better position than they’re in now.

Betway make it 9.5 he’s man-of-the-match for a second consecutive game.

Here’s our Betway review, where you’ll find out why we recommend it as a trustworthy, safe and extremely reliable betting site.

DC’s Likely XI

Warner, Bharat, Marsh, Pant, Powell, L Yadav, Patel, Thakur, K Yadav, Nortje, Sakariya.

Venue & conditions

The DY Patil Stadium was the venue for that win by DC over RR the other day.

That the Royals scored 160/6 was very much in line with the ground’s par score. A week ago KKR got 165/9 to beat Mumbai easily and before that Gujrat managed only 143, chased easily by…Punjab.

Meaning both these sides won on their last visit to the DY Patil.

But among those scores was also the 208/6 posted by CSK against Delhi, though that just looks like a bit of an anomaly.

So expect between 160-170 as a first-innings total and if it’s within that bracket, it could go either way.
