It was all about Ravi Ashwin on Day Two of the Second India vs England Test in Chennai as India bowled England out.
Team India are now building a big lead.
Here’s what happened in Chennai.
India lead by 249 runs and counting
India are in a commanding position in the Second Test in Chennai at the end of Day 2,
They are winning by 249 runs in the third innings, on a day where 15 wickets fell.
Rohit Sharma (25) and Chet Pujara (7) will return on Day Three looking to get to a lead of 450 or more.
This will give themselves plenty of time to bowl England out on an increasingly turning pitch.
England know perfectly well that they’re up against it.
At least one batsman will have to get at least 150 batting last if they’re going to have any chance of saving a draw.
A win for India would level the Series at 1-1 with all to play for.
Ashwin stars with the ball
The day didn’t start too well for India.
None of the bowlers provided ample support to Rishabh Pant, who ended unbeaten on 58.
India finished on 329 all out but as the game progressed, it started to look a strong first-innings total.
England in reply were all out for 134.
Wicket-keeper batsman Ben Foakes had a top-score of 42.
The hero from the First Test, skipper Joe Root, got just six.
Unsurprisingly, India’s key man was their star spinner Ravi Ashwin, who took 5-43.
Simple game plan for Test 2
India’s plan will now to get to a big lead as soon as possible and then let the wicket do the rest.
The nice thing for India is that there’s still so much time left in the game.
They can bat sensibly and patiently knowing that whatever happens, England will be chasing a big target.
All of this on a deteriorating pitch, with plenty of overs still in the game.
