Who will win IPL 2021 Player of the Series?

From the perspective of cricket betting predictions, we have narrowed the list down to the following 6 players:

  • Virat Kohli – RCB
  • Rashid Khan – SRH
  • Dawid Malan, K.L Rahul – PK
  • Rishabh Pant – DC

These players are known for their overall performance on the field and have got the ability to turn the match around. They have done so in the past and can do so again in the future.

Virat Kohli – Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Indian skipper is currently enjoying what is undoubtedly one of the best starts to a year in his career. He recently led India to a successful series win over England in all three formats of the game.

What’s more impressive is his consistently brilliant performance throughout – he scored five half-centuries in his last seven matches, three of which were in T20 matches. Before the England series, Kohli led the boys to T20 Series win against Australia in the land down under, where he was just as good with the bat.

He will now look to deliver the same results with Royal Challenger Bangalore, who have gone to great lengths to build a strong squad, at least on paper.

With support from the players like AB de Villiers, Glen Maxwell, and Adam Zampa, there is no reason why Kohli can’t continue to do his very best and guide RCB to the elusive IPl title.

Rashid Khan – Sunrisers Hyderabad

At the moment, the Afghan bowler is currently ranked #2 in the ICC’s T20I Men’s Bowling Rankings and there is a good reason for it. He has always been clinical with the ball and is known to take the wickets at the right time.

Set to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Khan will be joining the team fresh from a superb run against Zimbabwe, where he took three wickets in six matches. In fact, he is one of the key bowlers responsible for Hyderabad’s strong bowling attack.

Additionally, he has honed his skills in other international leagues as well, most notably the BBL, Pakistan Super League, and Caribbean Premier League.

Rashid Khan of SRH

Another reason why he makes the cut is that last season, Jofra Archer took the Most Valuable Player Award, solely for his ability to help win the matches for Rajasthan Royals. Khan has the ability to do something similar with the Orange Army too.

Dawid Malan, K.L Rahul – Punjab Kings

Dawid Malan may not have had the best run in the recent tour of India but that is no reason to underestimate the British batsman. He brings tremendous experience with him, having played in T20 leagues like the IPL all across the world.

His last stint was in the Big Bash League with Hobart Hurricanes. Interestingly, this is Malan’s first time in the Indian Premier League and he will be playing for Punjab Kings.

In all likelihood, he will bat side by side with Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal, both of whom have a rich history in the tournament.

Another name that does pop up here is that of K.L. Rahul, who scored the most runs in the IPL 2020. He was the top batsman for Kings XI Punjab, scoring 670 runs in 14 matches. This season, he is going to captain the side and the coach Wasim Jaffer has already promised a more aggressive side of Rahul.

That said, it is worth remembering that he had a rather poor spell in the India-England Series, with two ducks in four matches.

Rishabh Pant – Delhi Capitals

The curious case of Rishabh Pant is something that has led to many people doubt the young cricketer, but he is on the course to prove them wrong.

In the ODI series against England, he was absolutely brilliant scoring 78 and 77 runs respectively in two matches. But what is worth noting here is the fact that he has matured greatly as a player.

Rishabh Pant Delhi Capitals

Granted that he did lose his form a while ago but he has the talent, or in the own words of DC coach Ricky Pointing – the X-Factor. Judging by his performance at the start of his career, he has an abundance of talent and can be decisive with the bat.

In the IPL 2018, he scored 684 runs but over the last two years, his total has reduced dramatically. Nonetheless, that is all in the past now and Pant looks to be in great form.

He will be leading the Delhi Capitals this season after Shreyas Iyer pulled out of the tournament.

Honorable mentions

In addition to the players mentioned above, there are also a few other cricketers who can very well make the cut, depending on how they perform in the event.

Leading the way is Suryakumar Yadav, who recently made his international debut against England. Prior to that, he enjoyed a terrific run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Playing for Mumbai Indians, Yadav will be side by side with the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal, both of whom are quickly establishing themselves as T20 specialists. Other players include Trent Boult, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and Suresh Raina.

World Cup in sight

The T20 World Cup will be played in India this year, making IPL the perfect training grounds. More than that, it is also the chance for the players to make their case as to why they should be chosen to represent their respective teams in the biggest cricket tournament of the year.

The IPL 2021 will start on April 9, and the first match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.
