KKR vs LSG Betting Odds

For my cricket betting tips on this game, I’m going with LSG to win it.

It’s not an easy call because LSG are going through a rough patch with two straight losses but read on to see why I just about prefer them in what is a vital clash as the Group Stages come to an end.

I’ll also have my usual toss winner pick and the KKR vs LSG betting odds for my Hot Bet: a third tip at bigger odds than usual.

I’m going with the fantastic Andre Russell to pull off one more of his miracle innings here and top score for KKR once again, at what are extremely generous odds.

KKR vs LSG Betting Winner Prediction

Recommended Bet: Back LSG to win @ 1.72 with Betway

The bookies make Lucknow pretty strong favourites here with Betway offering odds of 1.72 on LSG and 2.15 on KKR.

On current for that doesn’t look quite right. KKR were excellent in their last win over SRH while LSG have now lost their last two.

But it’s worth remembering two things.

Firstly, those two losses by LSG were against the two best sides in the competition: the Titans are top, Rajasthan are second.

And secondly, that LSG are two wins better off than KKR after the same number of games, proof they’ve been the more consistent side.

And consistency is perhaps the key word here. KKR can produce excellent performances but really poor ones, LSG don’t fluctuate as much.

The last thing to remember here is that KKR need to not only win but to win very convincingly to improve their net run rate.

That may force them into going for broke and being perhaps a little too aggressive. LSG are therefore the choice, but it’s not an easy one.

And here’s our Betway review, with all the info you need to know about a highly recommended betting site who offer generous odds, good bonuses and a top-class live betting product.

Plus of course, all the latest KKR vs LSG betting markets and odds.

KKR vs LSG Hot Bet

Recommended Bet: Back Andre Russell to be KKR Top Batsman @ 12.28 with 10CRIC

You can read more about Andre Russell below because he’s our KKR Player to Watch.

But in the meanwhile, consider this: Russell is KKR’s second-highest run scorer so far this IPL yet is available at odds of 12.28 to top score for them here. That can’t be right, can it?

The theory is that most of the time it simply won’t be possible for Russell to top score for KKR.

If a couple of KKR batsmen get going with a pair of 50s, then he simply won’t have enough balls to catch up with them given he generally bats at six or seven.

That’s the theory anyway but Russell keeps making a mockery of it.

In 13 games this season he’s top scored for KKR four times.

That’s a win percentage of 30%, yet his current odds of 12.28 suggest he wins this only 1 in 11 times. Like we said, that can’t be right.

There’s another factor at play here. Because KKR need to win convincingly, they may promote Russell to four or five, knowing the impact he can make.

Let’s hope so as it will help our cause.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Recent Form

A fine win over SRH last time out means that KKR aren’t out of it yet.

But they’ll need to win this one, preferably by a big margin, and then hope other results go their way.

But it’s not just one win that would have to go their way, it’s several.

For example, if RCB were to win their last match, KKR would be out. If DC win their last two matches, KKR will be out.

Or if DC win one of their two remaining matches and the net run rates of them and KKR stay the same, Kolkata would be out, too. You get the picture.

And even then, if everything all goes their way, the highest they can finish is fourth anyway.

But still. At least it’s all to play for going into their final match rather than not even having a chance.

Last time out it was the Andre Russell show.

The Jamaican hit 49 off 28 against SRH to get KKR from a decent score to a very competitive one where in the end they won by 54 runs.

Russell then took 3/22 with the ball and unsurprisingly got the man-of-the-match award for his excellent all-round effort, not for the first time this season.

Team News

KKR have probably chopped and changed more than any other side in the IPL this season.

They’ve used endless different opening combinations with the bat, changed their overseas players around and played different wicket-keepers.

But the XI they played last time out with Narine, Russell, Southee and Billings as overseas players and Chakravarthy and Umesh Yadav back in the team is probably the strongest they can field.

But it may be a case of too little, too late.

Player to Watch: Andre Russell

Another season, another masterclass of performances from the great Russell.

Despite batting at six, seven or eight, he’s amassed 330 runs at an average of 41 with a strike rate of 182. Barely believable numbers.

That makes him the second highest run scorer for KKR this season, just 21 behind skipper Shreyas Iyer.

Iyer has faced 269 balls to Russell’s 181.

But of course, Russell doesn’t just score runs.

Despite bowling almost exactly half the overs of Sunil Narine, he’s their top wicket-taker with 17 wickets and has a strike rate of 8.8.

If he’d bowled four overs a match (which he rarely does) he’d average almost three wickets a game.

And if he’d have bowled four overs a match or close to that, he’d surely be the Purple Cap holder at this stage. What a player.

He’s 7.0 to be man of the match here, 4.25 to be KKR Top Bowler and 10.0 to be their Top Batsman, prices with Betway.

He has a chance in all three.

Here’s our Betway review, where you’ll find out why we recommend it as a trustworthy, safe and extremely reliable betting site.

KKR’s Likely XI

V Iyer, Rahane, S Iyer, Rana, Billings, Singh, Russell, Narine, Southee, Chakravarthy, Yadav.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Recent Form

Lucknow lost their nerve just when they could least afford to do so.

Last Tuesday they lost a vital game against Gujarat that could have secured them a Top 2 finish and then on Sunday they lost to Rajasthan, allowing RR to leapfrog them into second place.

A Top 2 finish isn’t out of the question. If they win this match and the Royals lose, they’ll finish above them in second.

There’s another way they can finish above the Royals: if they both win but the Super Giants win more convincingly, they could end up with a slightly better net run rate. We’ll have to wait and see.

Against RR, Lucknow were just a tad unlucky.

RR put in an excellent performance with the ball with Trent Boult bowling out of his skin and putting Lucknow under pressure from early on.

But what really killed LSG in chasing 179 was the Royal’s fielding. They took three outstanding catches at crucial times, when even taking one of them would have been impressive.

LSG have been good for most of the season and will see this match as a freebie: win and win convincingly to put RR under pressure.

Lose and they’ll still make the Playoffs but will have to do it the hard way.

Team News

LSG would probably really like to be able to play Evin Lewis because they’re missing a classy and experienced player at three.

But they’re not going to drop Quinton de Kock, Jason Holder or Marcus Stoinis so it would have to be PVD Chameera making way if they were to bring in Lewis.

But they’ll probably stick with the same side, despite losing their last two.

Player to Watch: Andre Russell

Deepak Hooda has had something of an under-the-radar campaign this IPL.

A somewhat ‘unfashionable’ player compared to the likes of Rishabh Pant or Shyeras Iyer, he’s actually been considerably better than both of them.

Playing all his side’s 13 matches this campaign, he scored 406 runs that included four fifties.

That’s only 63 fewer than his skipper KL Rahul, who is second on the IPL top run scorer charts; Hooda is fourth.

What’s a bit of a surprise is that he hasn’t bowled more. Yes. he’s a batting all-rounder but five overs is far less than what one would have expected.

If he’d bowled a bit more, he may have been in contention for the all-rounder spot for India at the World Cup with Venkatesh Iyer, Lalit Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja all having quiet IPLs.

But he may still make the squad.

Betway make it 5.0 that he top scores for LSG for the third match in a row.

Here’s our Betway review, where you’ll find out why we recommend it as a trustworthy, safe and extremely reliable betting site.

LSG’s Likely XI

Rahul, de Kock, Hooda, Badoni, K Pandya, Stoinis, Holder, Chameera, M Khan, A Khan Bishnoi.

Venue & conditions

DC will have good memories of playing here after that important win over the Rajasthan Royals last week.

As we’ve said many times throughout this season, the DY Patil Stadium is the toughest track to bat on of any in this IPL.

The average first innings score is around the 165 mark and if a team gets to that ball-park total, it’s anyone’s game.

Teams have recently decided to bat first and make use of the wicket when it’s at its best and then hope scoreboard pressure does the rest.

Let’s wait and see if the winning skipper sees things that way here.
